Easter is a yellow-label heaven. Stock up your freezer and larders, saving £££'s Larger supermarkets are classed as large shops and are, by law, shut on Easter Sunday in England and Wales. This one-day closure creates a yellow label-shopping heaven. The Metros and locals can remain open. All supermarkets are offering GREAT deals on roasts and sides, AND they all want your Easter food spent with them, so there are many deals on: M&S: Offering a roast for 4 and 4 sides at £18. Waitrose: Offering up to a third off on meat, fish, and poultry. Tesco: offering 50% discount on mains with a club card. Sainsbury's: Offering has half-price mains and is doing its 15p vegetable deals again; it's worth stocking up on potatoes, carrots, parsnips, cabbage, and swede, as all will last if stored correctly, in a cool, dark place. There are many 25% off six bottles of wine. This has previously applied to the quarter bottles at Sainsbury's, allowing portion control, which I will buy. Yellow label tips: Discounts should start if you go in at about 4 pm on Saturday. It will be branch-specific. Go in on Easter Monday, and you will find discounts on Easter goods such as hot cross buns, confectionary, and Easter decorations. Anything with Easter packaging, including the centre piece roasts, will be 50% off or more. This is not because it is short-dated but because the labeling is seasonal. Wait a week or two, and Waitrose will discount any left-over Easter goods by 80%. My previous best Easter yellow label buys Last year, I got Heston chocolate Apples for £1.95, down from £18, and a beef joint £7, down from £60 from Waitrose. They were also selling Easter decorations and crackers at 80% off. Fillet of beef £11, down from £55. Organic stuffed chicken at £3, down from £15. Both M&S Why you should do it- save £££ It is a great time to stock up on your freezer, larder, and anything for children, such as baskets, hats, and cheap decorations for Easter 2025.

Try explaining this... to a new employee: in a bakery warehouse all like this one, he has to walk around during night-shift, reading from a piece of paper in his hand and dispatch fresh bread to all these cutsomers! Seriously: can you find anyone today who can still do that, let alone wants to do it? Rather difficult to unlikely. It's easier with the paperless picking system Distrib from Pcdata. Not only can anyone dispatch with it, it's easier, faster and far more convenient! #pcdata #distrib #labour #bakery #bakery #shortage

Targeted Accounts Week rolls on... Inside or Outside? If you're looking to sell in and deplete cases, then Thursday's targeted account type is for you? Accounts with Outdoor Seating If a restaurant has outdoor seating, it tends to have six-to-ten times more volume than similar restaurants without it. You can easily find such restaurants on Yelp by checking the "Outdoor Seating" box in the "Features" section. But don’t rush in to the patio just because… Look at the menu closely before making this type of restaurant a To-Do item for sales. The brand still needs to be a fit with the flavor profile of the diners, and solve a need the owner may have. We don’t rush into anything, by the way. We plan it out first. Learn more. Work with us. Warmer weather is coming! https://buff.ly/475Zfec

Bakery opening up close to you? This may happen and you have “no” control over it. My client just experienced this, and here is what I shared with them. Yes, they will have a shinier, new looking store (not necessarily better looking) and customers some of yours will check them out. However, Control what you can control, make your store your focus not theirs. You may lose a few customers who are just walking past and stop in the first bakery they see. Guess what - your customers will check it out, so expect a dip the first week or two – everyone likes something new, but if you are treating your customers well you won’t lose them for long. Go on check them out, have your staff check them out too, and see what your strengths and weaknesses may be compared to them. Build on your weaknesses. Do you have a point of difference over them, focus on that difference. Have a staff meeting, or conversation and ask them to go an extra level with their customer service. (there is always an extra level). Can you add something new and exciting to your product line? Ensure your signage can be seen from a distance. (even better if it can be seen from the new bakery). Keep working on building your customer numbers, there are plenty to share and always new ones around. Never be seen to talk down about the other store to your customers and ensure your staff don’t either. How is your marketing, are you taking opportunities in the local press? A little spring clean of your store, a fresh paint or new merchandising. Remember Competition makes you better, you get to relook at what and how you are doing things, work on where you can improve and come out a better store. When this happened to us, and it did a few times, six months later we weren’t down in sales we were up! I bet the “Fox sisters both won gold because they grew up with competition.” #bakers #bakery Bakery Business Magazine Baking Europe Journal Baking Association of Canada (BAC) Bakery Media

In the restaurant industry, there is a term "in the weeds." It refers to a situation when the kitchen is impossibly overwhelmed. One hot August day during our first summer at Thirst still stands out in my memory as an instance of being deeply in the weeds. [But if you’re not curious about working in a juice bar, stick with me - there’s a message for lawyers in here too.] Anyway, on that day, our juicer, wheatgrass press, all of our regular blenders, and two backup blenders intended for use only if a regular one broke down, ran simultaneously, while the printer shot out tickets as fast as our cashier could take orders. The line of customers snaked out the door and around the corner. And then, as if the extreme busy-ness wasn’t enough, two more things happened. First, a team member realized that the trash bag catching juice pulp from the juicer was full, and she needed to move it out to our bigger trash cans. While she was moving it, the bag exploded, leaving pulp all over our customer area. So she had to stop making juices and smoothies and clean up the mess. In a rush to pick up where she’d left off, I stuck my hand under a sink where we kept trash bags to replace the one she’d taken out, and managed to slice myself on a sharp piece of plumbing. I wasn’t badly injured, but with blood everywhere, I had to clean it all up and appropriately cover my bleeding hand before I could be of any use to the team. It was chaos. But we got through it that day and every other day that we needed to. The key was to keep moving. To work as a team, as we’d practice, and to get things done. There was no choice. Once you understand that you'll eventually come out of it, it's easier to get comfortable functioning while in the weeds. And it's the same across professions, including for lawyers. Sometimes there will be a seemingly impossible amount to do. It can feel overwhelming. It might not be a literal line of customers, but it may be your slack alerts, teams, phone, and email pinging simultaneously while you try to finish just one thing. But the only sure way to not get it done, is to let the volume paralyze you. Instead, the best approach is to come up with a plan and just keep moving. And when you have a team, to coordinate and work through it together. Not panicking about the volume is an important step towards completing everything that needs to be done, and doing it well. And luckily for lawyers, even when we’re most “in the weeds,” we rarely wind covered in juice pulp or blood.

#FunFoodFactFriday The first Waffle House opened on September 5, 1955. The restaurant was a collaboration of neighbors in Avondale Estates, Georgia, about 10 miles outside of Atlanta. Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner decided that the area needed a 24-hour, sit-down restaurant for their friends and neighbors that combined the speed of fast food with the round-the-clock concept. They opened the first Waffle House on Labor Day in 1955. The venture was named Waffle House to promote their highest-profit item—the waffle. Because the waffle did not lend itself to takeout, the owners also thought that encouraging waffle ordering might encourage diners to stay and linger. Forker would say, “We are not in the food business. We are in the people business.” The restaurant signs were painted bright yellow to attract drivers' attention, and menu items included waffles and eggs for 40 cents, hash browns for 20 cents, Coca-Cola for 10 cents, and a filet mignon for $1.50. Waffle House continues to be an icon, with more than 2,000 locations across 25 states. Every minute, Waffle Houses serve an average of 341 bacon strips, 238 orders of hash browns, 145 waffles, and 127 cups of coffee. Other Fun Facts: *** Waffle House used to serve Chick-fil-A. The chain was once licensed to sell fellow Atlanta-based CFA sandwiches. However, the sandwiches got so popular that orders were impacting Waffle House’s regular menu, so the partnership was stopped. *** The original Waffle House location still exists, but it has now been turned into a museum containing Waffle House memorabilia. It can be toured only by appointment, and the tours fill up months in advance. *** Waffle House releases its own custom waffle-based songs, starting with “Waffle House Family.” A full selection can be found on jukeboxes in Waffle House locations. *** FEMA uses the “The Waffle House Index” to determine how hard a natural disaster has hit a town: Code Green means Waffle House is open and serving a full menu, Code Yellow means Waffle House is serving a limited menu, supplies may be low, and power may be off, and Code Red means Waffle House, Inc. is closed and the area needs immediate assistance. #cpgindustry #wafflehouse #nowyouknow #forhireresults The Newell Group
