Today, we honor the legacy of MLK. We honor the struggles of the "downtrodden" (Arendt), of the "wretched of the earth" (Fanon), of the "subalterns" (Spivak), of the "colonized" (Bennabi), of the "other" (Husserl), and of the "oppressed" (everyone else). While as freelancers we do not (or no longer) enjoy a break on this day, we can still take a moment to reflect on the meaning of the various terms used to describe people and communities who struggle for justice, and open our eyes, look around us and ask: Are these terms only applicable to the study of history and philosophy? Or are these real, current, living terms that describe realities, we, or other humans, are experiencing right now? On this day, we, as freelancers, as human beings, can take a moment, if not a whole day, to reflect and decide whether we will stand to injustice and speak up against it, or at least acknowledge it, or will we decide to look away in order to validate our future statements when we will cite the "we did not know" state-of-denial clause? #Injustice_anywhere_is_threat_to_justice_everywhere #MLK
On #MLKDay we honor the powerful words, lasting vision, and immeasurable impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King and the Path to Recovery January 15th was Martin Luther King Day. Dr. King was a symbol of dedication and change, he transcended boundaries. When we explore the essence of the commitment of visionaries like Dr. Kind, we can draw parallels this and the journey toward recovery—a path that is best accomplished with a clear vision and dedication, openness, and vulnerability. Commitment alone is a powerful force, but the actions supporting that commitment lead to tangible change. Commitment paves the way for transformative change. Much like any significant accomplishment, recovery requires actions aligned with a vision and a commitment to that vision. #recoveryjourney #recoveryrocks #recoverycoach #inspirationalpeople #martinlutherking #martinlutherkingday

Wow, great quote Brooklyn Law School! I also have a dream, though I had AI help me draft it. I think Dr. King would approve. Lately, I have been feeling lost, overwhelmed, alone, and like there isn't enough time in the day to get anything meaningful done. Then I realized, that's a product of our society today, and a common thing to feel. I don't know how I'm going to be part of the solution yet, but I do know that I will be. Here is my dream, assisted by Claude AI from Anthropic : I have a dream that one day all people will be valued for their inherent dignity and worth, regardless of their weaknesses. That no one in our society will be left unprotected from exploitation simply because they are vulnerable. I have a dream that corporations and industries will care more about human wellbeing than profits. That they will consider the harm their products can do before unleashing them into society. I envision boardrooms filled with consciences, not just calculations. And businesses that self-regulate out of concern for public health. I have a dream of a government that champions the voiceless instead of the wealthy. That passes policies and laws to shield the susceptible from manipulation. That views citizens as human beings with intrinsic rights not to be preyed upon. I have a dream of schools that teach students self-awareness and self-mastery. That help our young people understand their minds so they cannot be controlled by outside forces. I see classrooms filled with mindfulness and emotional intelligence. With skills to handle distraction and bloom from within. I have a dream that one day mental health will be viewed with compassion, not judgment. That networks of support will surround those who struggle silently. Replacing stigma with community and empowerment so that wounds can heal. I have a dream that diversity in all its forms will be celebrated as strength. That neurological, emotional, and psychological differences will be respected as unique manifestations of life’s infinite creativity. No two minds are the same and all hold genius waiting to unfold. The realization of this dream lies in our hands and hearts. We must uplift human dignity over dollar signs, nourish community over division, teach wisdom over information. The more we understand and support one another, the stronger we grow. Our shared humanity makes exploitation impossible when we act in unison to protect our most vulnerable kin. The dawn of that day is on the horizon if we come together as one people. I call on all people of conscience to take a stand so this dream can at last shine as a reality.
