We gathered for our annual Executive+ Team retreat at the beautiful New York Foundation offices. Our time together focused on the importance of Grand Street’s culture of learning and inclusivity, the opportunities before us with our current strategic plan, and the lessons we can learn from our shared and individual histories with the organization. We even enjoyed a surprise reading of Grand Street’s new children’s book (coming soon!) from our resident former school teacher CEO Robert Cordero. Thank you to NYF President Rickke Mananzala for hosting us and spending sharing the ways our agencies have collaborated dating all the way back to 1956. We’re energized and inspired to take Grand Street to new heights in the Lower East Side, Brooklyn, and the Bronx!

Founder and Managing Principal at Greensfelder Real Estate Strategy and GlobeSt 2024 and 2021 Influencer in Retail Real Estate
Not for or against this idea. Just thinking it through from a #marketdemand perspective. Is #induceddemand the driving theory behind this proposal? If #visitor-driven, how will location relate to where most downtown #hotel rooms are located (ie. towards #UnionSquare)? We’re working on #downtown #masterplans across the #unitedstates right now, so interested to see how this evolves and if it’s a model for other cities. #retailresilience #communitydesign #economicdevelopment #downtownrecovery #sanfrancisco #retail #foodandbeverage
Today, I’m standing with Mayor Breed and Sen. Wiener to announce the first Entertinment Zone in California - Front Street! “Downtown San Francisco needs a nightlife renaissance post-pandemic. Launching California’s first ever entertainment zone on Front Street is significant and will catalyze more reasons to come downtown,” Robbie Silver, executive director of the Downtown SF Partnership, said in a statement. Those who know me know that my love for the San Francisco 49ers isn't just a hobby, it's a family legacy! 🏈 This weekend, despite the loss, was another chapter in our tradition of cheering, shouting, and yes, sometimes sighing, alongside our favorite team. Passing down this ritual to my daughter means teaching her about more than just football; it’s about resilience, loyalty, and the art of seeing a game through, no matter the score. At Orange Grove Creative Co., we channel that same die-hard energy into every project. Whether we're facing down a tight deadline or brainstorming a game-changing campaign, we bring the spirit of a fourth-quarter comeback to our work. So, how do you blend passion and tradition into your professional endeavors? Drop a comment below—we might just have more in common than our favorite teams! #49ersFaithful #TeamTraditions #MarketingInnovation #ResilienceInAction #CreativeLeadership #OrangeGroveCreativeCo

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! 🍀 Today is not just about wearing green or hunting for four-leaf clovers. It's a day steeped in history, celebrating St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, known for bringing Christianity to the island and reportedly using the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity. But how can we channel the spirit of St. Patrick's Day into property and community management? Easy! Here are a few tips: 🌿 Go Green: Not just with your outfit! Implement eco-friendly practices in your community. Think recycling programs, energy-efficient lighting, and encouraging bike-to-work days. 🎉 Community Engagement: Organize events that bring people together, much like the communal celebrations of St. Patrick's Day. A community potluck or a green-themed party can do wonders for neighborly bonds. 🌍 Inclusivity Matters: St. Patrick's Day is celebrated worldwide, em we bracing people of all backgrounds. Ensure your community feels welcome and valued, regardless of their origin. 📚 Educate and Share: Use your community bulletin or social media to share fun facts about St. Patrick's Day, spreading knowledge and joy. Let's take inspiration from this day to not only wear green but also to think green and act in ways that foster a strong, inclusive, and joyful community. May the luck of the Irish be with you today and always! 🍀🏡🌟 #RESCONGreen #StPatricksDay #CommunityManagement #GoGreen #Inclusivity #Sustainability #PropertyManagement #CelebrateCommunity

We are back, baby! And we're stoked to invite you all to the FOURTH season of Racial Justice Weavings. These weekly gatherings are for outdoor education and recreation professionals from any school, company, or organization, in any role. First-timers and old-timers all welcome and encouraged! If you are seeking support for: processing your summer or fall season with a racial justice lens, racial justice work you're doing in your own family or workplace, or your personal liberation practice, join us. We're here to do it in community. Logistics: - Wednesday evenings on Zoom, 6-8pm MST - September 4 - December 11, 2024 (with a few breaks in there) - Sliding scale pricing and we will not let cost be a barrier to anyone participating. In September 2020, we (Steph and Ella) began hosting a weekly space for our fellow backpacking and climbing instructors to talk about white supremacy, racism, and racial justice in outdoor education. The Racial Justice Weavings - "Weavings" - were named to place this gathering within its context: a long history and future of racial justice advocacy in outdoor spaces and education. The goal was to foster antiracist culture in our outdoor leadership school through collective learning and relationship-building. This relational, culture-shifting work is slow but it is powerful. We have learned and grown a lot together in the last four years, and we’re eager to keep building and deepening with the next cohort. Message info@greenwoodandduff.com to sign up.

If you know what you want to be, then you inevitably become it – that is your punishment, but if you never know, then you can be anything. [Paraphrasing Oscar Wilde] We are not nouns, we are verbs. We are people who do things. Stay with me here… This amazing building in the centre of #Accrington is destined to be a new heritage centre. Currently in the development phase, thanks to National Lottery Heritage Funding, we are exploring what this building could become, steered by the local community. Inclusion, access & participation at the heart. What I love about this project is how heritage isn’t something to be defined, people determine what their hertiage is (The National Lottery Heritage Fund ‘s own words!) The sentiment of the Oscar Wilde quote keeps coming up in various ways throughout our engagement/consultation work. People are asking for inspiration & examples of great things that have been crafted from their hometown, wondering what they can ‘be’... but they are also asking to have a go, to try new things & learn new skills that connect them to the past. They want to not just visit a new place for one thing or one activity, they want a place that changes with the seasons, offers opportunities they haven’t heard of before & a place they can also just exist and feel part of. ‘If you can’t see it, you can’t be it’ The more conversations we have, the more privileged I feel to be the person curating all the feelings and thoughts together. Some exciting updates about our plans for the year ahead & ways to get involved coming soon! Plus sooo much going on in Accrington in general. President and CEO of Women's Affordable Housing Network (recovering Tax Partner in Affordable Housing industry)
What inspired me to work in the affordable housing industry? Can't wait to hear from our panelists Nov 18th in the Windy City! Two pivotal experiences shaped my path: Volunteering for @Junior Achievement each year in Charlotte, NC. I learned firsthand about food insecurity, financial struggle, and unsafe neighborhoods. I’ll never forget asking the children what they were dressing up as for Halloween—one little boy burst into tears because his mom couldn’t afford a costume, and none of the students trick-or-treated in their own neighborhood. (Happy to report my team at PwC bought the entire class costumes.) Poverty Simulation hosted for employees by PwC opened my eyes to the uphill battle faced by those financially behind. Simple things like having direct deposit versus riding a bus to a check-cashing agency, or the dilemma of sick children keeping a parent from work translating to no pay for that day (no paid PTO), reminded me how fragile financial stability can be. These experiences gave me a deep sense of purpose—to help ensure that everyone has access to safe, affordable housing and the opportunity to live in thriving communities. It’s about creating security, opportunity, and dignity for all. #AffordableHousing

Join us at noon on November 18th at Swissotel Chicago to hear from Tracey Scott of the Chicago Housing Authority, Cissy Watson and Ali Watson of Mansermar Development, LLC, Guacolda Reyes of The Resurrection Project and Cat Vielma of Red Stone Equity Partners LLC They embody Generational Strength, and we're excited to hear their stories of leadership, family legacy, and the future of housing.
