🌟 Motor Industry Expert & Strategic Business Leader | Drives Sales & Service Excellence | KPI & Financial Growth Specialist | Author | MBA in Strategic Management 🌟
Yesterday, I had the privilege of engaging with a seasoned and well-respected Malaysian professional working in the Middle Eastern motor industry. One of my former direct reports and like me, has had experiences with Japanese and European brands. You know who you are! Our conversation over hours was a masterclass in operational finesse, training acumen, and financial strategy. It was a moment of affirmation and satisfaction when my initial solution to a problem he brought up was in fact the correct solution and aligned seamlessly with the industry's best practices. It reinforces a timeless truth ... the fusion of common sense and business acumen is unstoppable. Your journey to excellence is paved with learning, application, experience, and growth. Embrace each mistake as a stepping stone. As you evolve, your value transcends boundaries, gaining global recognition. The WORLD acknowledges those who relentlessly hone their craft. Stay curious, stay driven. Stay curious, stay driven. In this limitless world, seek your fortunes far and wide, not just in Malaysia, but wherever opportunity beckons. Annyeonghaseyo👋🏻 I just want to show off that I know how to speak Korean now! (A little bit saja la) Last Saturday was one of the core memory in my journey with Compass Mind Asia as I embarked on a unique Korean-themed team-building event with all of my colleagues. 🇰🇷 They really made me speak Korean (the pronunciation sounds so kelakar😂), acted in Korean (this one was more kelakar), and played all these Korean games straight out of the television screen! 📺🎭 You know the famous “Red light, Green light” game? Yes, we did that too, so fun! Now, let me tell you, navigating through Korean culture was no easy feat, especially for someone like me who doesn’t really know the language and culture. The contrast with my younger colleagues was so vivid! They were all so gembira speaking and dancing to Korean music. Yalah, it’s their era kan? But hey, taking the challenges is where the magic happens.✨ What truly warmed my heart was the energy and enthusiasm radiating from my team, even amidst the puasa Ramadan. Watch the video, you wouldn't expect this was shot during bulan puasa haha Their willingness to fully engage and embrace the spirit of the unfamiliarity of the event was nothing short of inspiring and wonderful. As we laughed and played so hard, stumbled over unfamiliar phrases, and cheered each other on, I couldn't help but marvel at the bonds we created beyond the confines of our work roles. Maybe lepas ini I can try to do an event with my theme and all have to bhangra together hahaha 💃🏽 Have you experienced other culture’s themed events? How was it? #SherinShares #MondayMotivation #TeamBuilding #Korean #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceCulture

When TOA Corporation was first established back in 1934, we originally conducted business under the name "TOA Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd.,". At that time, "T-O-A" was pronounced, “toɑ.” This portion of our name was formed by combining two Japanese Kanji: 東 ('to) meaning East, and 亜 (ɑ) meaning Asia. Since Japan is located far east Asia, many Japanese companies used “toɑ” as part of their company’s names. Essentially, our company’s original name was “East Asia Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd.” However, in the late 80s we switched names to "TOA Corporation” the official pronunciation switched from “toɑ” to the "T-O-A" pronunciation that we’re all accustomed to today. The switch served as a means to pay homage to the company’s roots, but also carry on a naming tradition that has since lost popularity in Japan. However some traditions tend to stick around even through changes like these... #toacanada #toatrivia #turning90

Building long-lasting relationships with suppliers, importers and everything in between is crucial, especially in cultures where business is based on trust and personal connections rather than mere transactions. 🚀 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚. (It’s All About "Jeong") Let’s get straight to it—if you’re doing business in South Korea, forget everything you know about quick deals and fast wins. In the West, we’re all about closing the deal and moving on. But in South Korea? It’s a whole different game. Here’s what you need to know: '𝐉𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐠'. This isn’t just some buzzword—it’s the glue that holds relationships together. It’s about trust, loyalty, and long-term connection. Imagine this: You’re at a business dinner in Seoul. Your Korean counterpart isn’t just interested in your pitch—they want to know 𝘺𝘰𝘶. Your values, your family, your hobbies. It might feel a bit too personal, but 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬. In South Korea, they’re not looking for a transaction. They’re looking for a 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳. Build that trust, and you’re not just another client—you’re part of their circle. That’s where the real opportunities lie. So, next time you’re in a meeting, remember: 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐬. #BusinessCulture #Jeong #SouthKorea #Partnership #Trust #RelationshipsMatter
