We do. Take a look at this article: ..."Only two of Maryland’s 10 major industries have more jobs than they did before the pandemic: professional and business services and government, two segments in which a majority of jobs typically require at least a college degree. Job losses, on the other hand, have been concentrated in segments that don’t require a college degree. Leisure and hospitality has experienced the sharpest decline in employment and still has 18,600 fewer jobs than in February 2020. Trade, transportation and utilities and construction, mining and logging aren’t far behind, both standing about 11,000 jobs short of full recovery." https://lnkd.in/eDmcvybH IEC Chesapeake is going into Fall classes with 1000+ apprentices, ALL of whom must maintain employment while in our accredited program. Additionally, we have a Workforce Development Team in both Maryland and Virginia working with STA's or School to Apprentices. Need labor?? We've GOT labor. Contact us! Info <Info@iecchesapeake.com>

What does Colorado's workforce look like? The 2023 Colorado Talent Pipeline Report demonstrates that Colorado continues to outpace national job growth averages and has the 5th highest-ranking labor force participation rate at 68.7%. According to the report, the state added 42,700 jobs between Aug. 2022 and Aug. 2023. Grand Junction's MSA experienced the same job growth as Denver within the last year, with 1,000 added jobs. Read the full report at https://hubs.la/Q02f2t-Z0 The report also identified methods to advance Colorado's workforce, including incentivizing talent development strategies that are evidence-based and led by employers, such as on-the-job training and apprenticeships. It emphasized the need to blur the lines between K-12, postsecondary education and training, and the workforce by embracing earn-and-learn models and improving access to affordable education opportunities. #ChooseColorado #EconomicDevelopment #WorkforceDevelopment #ColoradoEmployment Colorado Workforce Development Council

Great things are happening in Alabama to support students in the changing skills-based economy. ✨ One of those is a focus on aptitude-enabled education. Identifying student aptitudes is crucial before deciding which skills to develop. Once aptitudes are determined, skills should be developed as students navigate career paths. This approach not only meets changing industry needs but also strengthens the Alabama economy. Check out the resource below to learn more! Milea Hanner

Where are you going to college? 🔨 📐 🚧 🏗 A seemingly harmless question, yet it subtly perpetuates one of our nation's most pressing issues: the growing shortage of skilled tradespeople. ❗❗❗❗ According to the National Electrical Contractors Association, nearly 30% of electricians are nearing retirement. In construction, more than 1 in 5 workers are 55 or older, leaving a significant gap that needs to be filled. ❗❗❗❗ While college is a great path for many, it's important to recognize that it’s not the only path to a successful and fulfilling career. The skilled trades offer rewarding opportunities that are crucial to our economy and infrastructure. This is where institutions like the West Michigan Construction Institute come into play. WMCI is an invaluable resource for those interested in pursuing a career in the trades. By supporting and encouraging young people to explore careers in the trades, we can address this looming labor shortage and ensure that our communities continue to thrive. It’s time to broaden the conversation and ask not just "Where are you going to college?" but "Have you considered a career in the trades?" Here are a few of my connections that would love to share their career growth in their field of work: Travis Turnes Josh Forbes Shane Vork Ken Neubecker Justin Wierenga Douglas Scott, CET Ted Titus.

Is this where we should direct our young people’s attention? 🤔 The rise of AI and robotics is set to replace many white-collar jobs. While new jobs will emerge, not everyone will fit into these roles. Accountants, bankers, sales reps, administrators, recruiters, interpreters, and even coaches, beware. If you're not replaced, you'll be fewer and working alongside AI and robots. 🤖 Don’t laugh. This is coming. 📉 We're talking massive changes in just a few years, not decades. 📆 However, in the foreseeable future, AI and robots won't be able to do everything. They can't fit a new bathroom or rewire a house. 🛠️ Skilled plumbers, electricians, gas fitters, and similar trades will become highly valued. 💡 For schoolchildren and teenagers, it’s wise to figure out what AI or robots can’t do in the near future. Study that trade. Keep your options open with other studies, but prepare for a different world of work. Head to where the puck will be, as they say in ice hockey. 🏒 #futureofwork #ai #robotics #careercoaching
🛠️America’s skilled trades — from plumbing to welding to construction — need more workers as boomers retire. Axios' Erica Pandey explains how Gen Z-ers are stepping up to fill the gaps. The big picture: Enrollment in vocational programs and applications for trade jobs are ticking up as younger people look to start their careers without the sky-high cost of a four-year college degree.

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has changed the game for clean energy in Wisconsin. The IRA’s labor standards include important prevailing wage, workforce development, and apprenticeship provisions to ensure that a larger, more diverse pool of skilled laborers has access to good jobs and that the workforce has the skills necessary to meet clean energy goals. Renewable energy projects in Wisconsin—which are either under construction, under regulatory review, or announced—could help create at least 18,000 well-paying jobs in the next five to six years. #LIUNA #1u #wiunion #feelthepower
