🧬🥼 There's no money! More and more pharma & bio companies are doing their own recruiting. I'm seeing an increase in jobs that have been live for 2-6 months+. A job I've started working on this week has been live for just over a year now. Let's be real for a second - this is not good. Your last round of investment will run out. Cash is finite until next round of funding and if you do get those funds can you realistically hit the ground running in the next phase if you don't have the people in place? Not even just moving to the next phase, what about back-filling? Life cycle of employees within life sciences is typically quite short therefore the chances of someone leaving you is quite high, can you afford to have a job live for even a month let alone 2+? Your progress will be halted and again, your funding will run out. Numerous other examples I can touch on but is it worth headhunting yourself for these long periods of time just to save on an agency fee? Not only dwindling time & resource from the company, but also your time & resource which I'm sure would be better placed elsewhere (unless you have a TA team of course in which case you can lean on them). #lifescience #pharma #biotech #SJRLifescience

🔍 Why Researching Company Culture and Pipeline Matters In the fast-paced world of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, understanding a company's culture and pipeline can make or break your career decision. 🌱 First, let's talk about company culture. Knowing the values, work environment, and team dynamics can help you assess if you'll thrive in that setting. A good cultural fit can lead to higher job satisfaction and better performance. For instance, if a company values innovation and you thrive on creative problem-solving, it's a match made in heaven. Conversely, a mismatch can lead to disengagement and high turnover. Now, onto the company pipeline. This is crucial in the biotech and pharma sectors where the success of a company's projects directly impacts job security and growth opportunities. By researching the pipeline, you can gauge the company's future prospects. Are they working on groundbreaking treatments? Do they have a robust pipeline with multiple projects in various stages? This information can give you insights into the company's stability and your potential career trajectory. #lifescience #biotech #careerdevelopment

🧬🥼Biotech and Pharma are two of the fastest moving industries in the world. No surprises there, we learn from what works, what doesn't and then constant innovation off the back of that. However it begs the question of talent. Courses which perhaps will be outdated within 5-10 years (even sooner in some cases I'm sure?) ⏱️ Couple that with the inclusion of technological advancements and it's never been more important for a company to be aligned on their staffing. Internal TA teams are great, but with all the issues facing the industry it's sometimes wise to partner with an agency; an agency who you can trust to represent your organisation in the best possible light, one that understands the issues you face and perhaps most importantly, one who will deliver. At SJR Life Sciences we specialise in collaborating with organisations through product life cycles, but we're also available for ad-hoc vacancies as and when you might need it if you only struggle with a vacancy here and there. #lifesciences #biotech #pharma #SJRLifeSciences

😏 Do IT professionals working for life science companies need domain knowledge about the pharmaceutical business? YES! 🙄 Every week I speak to recruiters and vendors who attempt to persuade me that their product designed for the banking industry - or their person from a technology company can make a difference in pharma. They can. Once they have gained the necessary domain knowledge 💪 . Why is domain knowledge so crucial in life sciences? Because the hard part of digitizing life sciences is ❌ not the technology. It is applying the technology to business problems. To apply technology to business problems, you need to 👨🎓 know the business. Life sciences is a complex domain. And it takes 🕥 time to understand why things are complex. To be able to bring true innovation to the table. Technologists in life sciences need to be well-versed in both the business and digitization of drug development. #lifesciences #it #technology #recruitment
