In 1991, I co-sponsored, with the Region of Halton, a program on how to handle your corporate lawyer as a business client. A few attendees wanted me to advise on how to handle their litigation lawyer on lawsuits that were going on and on. Litigators know how to litigate. They make their living off litigation. They won't really pursue settlement until you say, "Uncle!" and stop paying their retainers. Commercial lawyers like to do deals, not fight over things. If you want to resolve a dispute, if you really want to do that, get a commercial lawyer to have a look at the file. #litigation #lawyers #corporatelawyer #commerciallawyer #business Virtually every lawsuit is about money, directly or indirectly. Sawing it in half is not always the best solution. Parties should decide on their sweet spot for settlement at the outset of the court proceedings, not three years and $50,000 later. Litigation is not the pursuit of truth or justice.
