The Truth-telling and Healing Inquiry QLD is a crucial step toward reconciliation. Acknowledging and addressing past injustices is essential for building a foundation of healing and respect, especially for those of our First Nations people whose stories and experiences have long been silenced and overlooked. Within just days of taking power, the LNP is set to abolish Queensland's first real step towards affirmative action for hearing the voices of First Nations people. We did not come this far, to only come this far. We’ve accomplished a lot at First United Church Community Ministry Society but we know there is still more to do. We’re led by a vision where everybody’s worth is celebrated, and all people thrive. We’re guided by these principles to get there through dignity, belonging, and justice. When we say dignity, we’re talking about respect, basic needs and human rights. When we talk about belonging, we’re talking about creating safer spaces where everyone feels welcome and there’s no judgement and no stigma. When talking about justice, we’re talking about systemic change and breaking the cycles of poverty. That’s what we’re trying to accomplish, and we know we do not do this work alone. We can’t do this without you. Through your faithfulness, finances, time, and support, you’re helping guide us to get to these places. And we’re led with so much hope. We know that in 2025 we’re going to accomplish even more things together. I am so humbled that I get to say this to you here today: Merry Christmas, and see you next year. When it comes to Calgary municipal politics, the bottom-line question is simply this: "How much do you want Jyoti Gondek gone?" Gondek has declared her intention to run for another term next fall. If we want another four years of woke ideology, being ignored, having property taxes increased, and being accused of racism, all that's necessary is for us to do nothing. Humility is the best leadership skill and you serve the people you lead - and Jimmy Carter served people, he served America, until he was literally too weak to lift a hammer to help build another home. A huge difference from anything president-elect Trump has ever done or said. Humble leaders who serve the people are what make America great.
