Over a Decade of Innovation: Over 2,000 Prototypes Since 2008 🐴 At Equimade, we’ve spent over a decade perfecting the art of designing equipment that prioritizes horse welfare and longevity. With more than 2,000 prototypes tested since 2008, we’ve created solutions that redefine safety, comfort, and sustainability. 🔎 The Danger of Cheap Horse Equipment: It’s tempting to go for budget-friendly gear, but here’s the harsh truth: cheap equipment is a false economy. Poorly made gear breaks easily, leading to constant replacements and higher costs over time. Toxic and low-quality materials can harm your horse, causing irritation, stress, and injuries. Horse Riding - How Do We Acknowledge and Manage Fear? It is steeped in horse culture that you get back on the horse after a fall. Why is this the "go to" reaction? What about taking time to assess the situation? What kind of injuries could the rider have - physical and emotional? What was the underlying cause of the fall? What happened for the horse? Again, it is important to remember that horses DO NOT strategize about throwing people off, getting out of being ridden, and any other host of myths based on a gross misunderstanding of equine behavior! Ignoring the major impact of fear being experienced by either the horse or rider is the biggest threat to safety for both - fear should not be ignored. Is it natural for horses to have a healthy fear mechanism - yes, it is in their DNA, an integral part of their survival instinct. Is it natural for humans to experience fear - yes, it is also part of their survival instinct. Is it natural for a human to experience fear when on a horse - yes. Is it natural for a horse to experience fear when being ridden - yes. Learning to recognize, acknowledge and manage fear for both horse and rider is a skill set that is essential in order to optimize safety. This is such an important topic, and not talked about nearly enough, that we reached out to four Internationally credentialed educators to create a whole horse/whole rider toolkit to address this issue. Gain a better understanding of the processes and master the fear and safety aspects of your horse and rider relationship with these 4 modules of evidence and research based insight: https://lnkd.in/ebiK_qhK #horse #rider #fear #safety #acknowledge #manage #toolkit #evidence #research #equitopia

The Universal Appeal of The Dead Horse Theory Someone shared with me “The Dead Horse Theory” image and I completely related with it. Funnily enough when I re-shared it with a lot of my connections on social media, they all said me one thing- Completely relatable. This makes for an intriguing case to understand and confirm that "TheDead Horse theory" also known as wisdom of Dakota Indians has a universal appeal across countries, businesses, sectors and Industries. To those who are not aware of it, I am sharing it with you. You will find it a worthy read. The tribal wisdom of the Dakota Indians, passed on from one generation to the next, says that when you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount. But most of the organisations and even us do the following. 1. Buying a stronger whip. 2. Changing riders. 3. Threatening the horse with termination. 4. Appointing a committee to study the horse. 5. Arranging to visit other sites or countries to see how they ride dead horses. 6. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included. 7. Reclassifying the dead horse as “living-impaired.” 8. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse. 9. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed. 10. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase the dead horse’s performance. 11. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse’s performance. 12. Declaring that the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead and therefore contributes more to the bottom line than some other horses. 13. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses. 14. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position. Lessons hidden in the message If you read and re read it, you will find it has mostly to do with our reluctance to change and accept whatever which has already happened. On a simpler level it can also relate to our lives, where we take a lot of time to finally acknowledge bad news or even many a times don’t even acknowledge it, thinking it is all just a bad dream. On organizational level, this is an important lesson for Human resources and for the leadership & management group. Why they don’t do it could be due to investment in that project (financially & mentally). For some it might be their dream project and they just can’t see it fade away or any reason. But the start will happen, when we accept that though however prized and precious, the horse is long gone, accept it, and move on. Buy a new Horse. “Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than hanging on” – Eckhart Tolle #motivation #motivationquotes #motivationalpost #lifelessons #lifelearnings #humanresourcesmanagement #workculture #leadership #change #changemanagement #changeleadership

Horses: Dealing With Anger and Frustration - Finding The Right Tools While we see the vast majority of owners wanting to do the right thing for their horses, we notice that there is a HUGE lack of education on using the right tools to deal with training situations without resorting to violence of some kind - beating, kicking, shouting etc. Violence against horses is both ethically wrong and achieves nothing. Horses do not learn via violence. Understanding Learning Theory is essential for owners, riders, trainers, Vets, Farriers and ANYONE handling horses. Horses are cooperative by nature but sadly misunderstood by the industry at large who still believe in the dominance based methods of training - showing them whose boss, being a leader, making them do it, riding them through it (whatever it is!). It is time for change. The evidence and research is there. We must do better. Understanding our own emotional triggers and baggage is also part of the journey. Each individual horse and handler situation is unique in it's nature and situational. It is important to have an understanding on the underlying factors and actions that will affect the outcome of the task being undertaken - which can be successful or not! Emotional Intelligence Skills for Equestrians is an increasingly necessary skill set to have, not only for interacting with horses, but also with people. For this reason, we are so thrilled to have undertaken producing this ten class series, presented by the Nationally acknowledged team of professionals in Finland and presented in an easy to digest format. Learn more about why this information could be a gamechanger for you starting today! https://lnkd.in/gbW6_7uX #horsewelfare #dealwithanger #constructively #baggage #horse #rider #wholehorse #wholerider #onlineeducation #equitopia
