So, I saw a #publicrelations job ad and the recruiter wrote something like this: 'We're looking for a PR specialist to lead our sales efforts'. Sales efforts? You need a #sales specialist! Of course, PR should deliver outcomes that impact the bottom line ultimately. But to lead your sales efforts? You need a sales professional. Then, the PR specialist can collaborate with them. PR is not sales. Please. This is one of the many misconceptions about public relations. #reputationmanagement #career #job

Preach the message, brother! The way upper management cadres are juxtaposing PR with sales appears to be a deliberate effort to stifle PR activities even before it start. Why are you trying to benchmark PR campaigns with sales? Fine we know it’s all about ROI but what about ROO? PR core is to assist sales and make you have a sustainable funnel if done the right way.

Working in Public Relations A career in public relations has no defined career path. An individual can obtain a degree in a number of different fields such as public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, broadcasting, or political science. Professionals in PR must have soft skills including strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to solve problems, and the ability to think critically and creatively.
