There are just 13 weeks to go until several members of the Hensall team will put on their walking boots and tackle the 24-mile Y3P challenge in under 12 hours in a bid to raise £250,000 for Cancer Research UK. Of course, 24 miles is a challenging task. With a lot of help from Francesca Nicholas RNutr PH BDA SCMA at Nutripath LTD, we’re getting stuck into the first month of our exercise plan. For the first month, we’ve got three areas of focus: 🔴 Building our basic cardio fitness 🔴 Getting used to being in the hills and trekking across rocky ground 🔴 Resistance training Our goal is to build up our endurance so that we can run 10km non-stop, at 10-minute miles, before the event. Our aim is to improve our endurance so that we can run 10km non-stop at a pace of 10 minutes per mile before the event. For those of us new to running, we're starting with 3×1 mile routes, using a walk-run-walk method until we can run 1 mile continuously. Then, we will gradually increase the distance by 20% and adjust our training regimen accordingly.
