Representation matters. People with disabilities are often absent from popular media, misrepresented, or played by able-bodied actors. While there has been a slight increase in disabled characters played by disabled actors, disability representation hasn’t gained nearly as much attention as gender or race-based representation. Common tropes often prevent disabled characters from accurately representing members of the disabled community. How do you feel about current disability representation in the media? Have a favorite show or film with good representation? Drop a comment below! Text in video reads: Happy Disability Pride Month Peaces of Me Foundation. In between the 2 lines of text is the butterfly of the Peaces of Me logo forming together from a bunch of smaller pieces. Compliance – this is the first word that comes to mind for many people when they think of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law on this day 34 years ago. However, for many Americans, including myself, the ADA brings to mind themes of inclusion, equality, and celebration of people with disabilities. We commemorate the ADA with our mission for continued progress because disability does not equal inability. This July, we invite you to celebrate everything that makes you unique. Today let’s recognize the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which became law on July 26, 1990. How? Thanks to the Disability Rights Movement, which brought much-needed attention and respect to the disabled community. For entrepreneurs and employers, the ADA is more than a legal requirement—it's a call to create inclusive and accessible workplaces. Embracing diversity means welcoming talents and perspectives that enrich your team. On July 26, 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed the ADA into law, integrating people with disabilities into the fabric of American life. As we reflect on this milestone, let's keep pushing for environments where everyone can thrive. #DisabilityRights #InclusiveWorkplace

July marks the anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990, a civil rights law that promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities in every aspect of life, including gaining access to the same employment opportunities and #benefits. People with disabilities now represent the largest and most diverse minority in the U.S. according to the CDC, with 1 in 4 adults today living with disabilities. Join us in recognizing Disability Pride Month, which celebrates people with disabilities, their identities and their contributions to society — and seeks to end the stigma associated with disability. Let's strive to ensure our nation's workplaces are inclusive and accessible to all. Have you ever attended a meeting or presentation where graphic recording, or graphic facilitation, was used? Studies show that pictures and images make ideas more understandable and memorable while also making communication more efficient and actionable. On average, people remember 10% of what they hear, 20% of what they read, and 80% of what they see and do. Not only does live sketching captivate audiences, but it can also help explain complex issues, and boost event engagement online and in-person.
