Pleased to update, there is a new version of the popular digital note-taking solution Glean, called Glean Notes + Caption, to include live captions. It’s now also available for workplace needs assessors to recommend, available on a 3-year subscription. The launch of Glean Notes + live captions further builds on the Glean digital notetaking approach that supports neurodivergent individuals with capturing key information from discussions, meetings and presentations, allowing them to focus and to easily refer back and annotate those notes. Integrating live captioning will also improve accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Thanks to Lee Chambers and Pete Artemiou at Glean for sharing these updates with us! More info on Glean Notes + Caption can be found on the iDiversity Consulting Ltd website https://lnkd.in/e2_4NkCc #iDiversityconsulting #glean #assisstivetechnology #AT #captioning #disabilityconfident #notetaking #deafawareness #dyslexia

I am very excited to be travelling to Amsterdam this Sunday in order to arrive on time for PSI. My presentation on "(Digital) Accessibility" is ready and my suitcase will be soon :-) As statisticians we have an obligation to make our work accessible. Otherwise our work will never have the impact it deserves. Accessible means several different things, here are the top 3: 1) Make it understandable. It is good to use very technical scientific language, but it is better to do this and also provide a lay language version. 2) Make it readable: avoid crowded slides, chose font sizes which are big enhough, ensure that there is enough contrast with the background and make it readable in black-and white (additional consideration: check your colours so that the contrasts are enough for people with vision impairments including colour blindness). 3) When using videos, make sure to also add closed captions PSI also issued guidance for everyone giving a presentation: - Use high contrast colors; light text on dark background or vice versa. - Minimum font size = 24. - Maximum 8 lines per slide, and 8 words per line. Use of suitable pictures/images/diagrams rather than lots of bullet pointed text is recommended. I am curious to see how many people will stick to it. Looking forward to meeting you there, especially meeting everyone in the HTA Special Interest Group face to face! #digitalaccessibility #PSI2024 #disability #inclusion

The Wellbeing Team Lead @ U-educate | BA, Trauma Informed, Alternative Provision Practitioner and Licensed Thrive Practitioner VL @UCB Working with families, children and young people Undergraduate Course
👓This is the 3rd day, of Neurodiversity Celebration Week and I thought I would share this brilliant infographic on distress by Dr Juliet Young. 👓 From my experience, many of the neurodiverse community will have experienced distress, due to not having the correct support and understanding. 👓During my Thrive Approach training, we are taught to, use a lens as such, and to 'shine a light' on behaviours and engage in 'sensing in', what is going on for the young person. 👓 Like the picture below, we put on different lenses so we can attune, validate, contain and regulate the young person💓💓Its important to remember so many different, factors should be considered.💓 FACT:USING A DIFFERENT LENS WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND A PERSONS PERSPECTIVE BETTER. #thriveapproach #lens #attune #validate #contain #regulate U-educate

🌍 Today, 2.5 billion people need at least one form of assistive technology (AT) product - and access to it is a human right. But only 10% of people in low-income countries can access the AT they need 🦽🦻👓📱🦿 📢 💡 To mark the first ever World Day for Assistive Technology, we’re shining a light on this inequity and the urgent need for people to access affordable assistive technology. AT enables people to live independent lives – to study, work and enjoy the everyday moments that many of us take for granted. 📽️Watch #UnlockTheEveryday‘s amazing new campaign film to learn more about how #AssistiveTechnology unlocks opportunities for all! https://lnkd.in/eqXSfy2Q 💕 On #worldATDay consider what can you do to make sure that everyone is included. You could give time or money to a disability cause, or you could simply ensure that whatever your endeavour or service, make sure that it caters for everyone. If we all really want to realise the benefits of an inclusive world where everyone can make a positive contribution, then we need to make more space for disabled people.

Part our Practice Conference offering is a post-conference workshop focusing on practice skills and issues, in this instance, particularly on interacting with neurodivergent individuals and their families. In engaging individuals and their families, practitioners are not only engaging with neurodiversity presented by individuals, but also the intersections of health, culture, spirituality, belief, community, family dynamics, the workplace, the school system, history and many more. How do we meet these intersections, alongside the being of neurodiverse individuals and their families? What can help us attend, to what requires attending - which sometimes may not be so obvious and noticed? Join Maimunah Mosli, Dr. Marwa Azab and myself at the post-conference workshop of the Systemic Practice Conference 2024 - let’s have more conversation and interaction on our practice! #neurodiversity #inclusion #systemicpracticeconference2024 #practice #clinicalpractice #systemicchange
🧠✨ Join us for an interactive post-conference workshop aimed at developing neuroaffirmative practices - come explore the intersections between neurodiversity, culture, individual development and family living.
