FEATURE - THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF EMPLOYEE EXPECTATIONS In a rather sobering statistic, it is estimated that the average person spends 90,000 hours of their lives working! No surprise then that employee expectations extend beyond free tea and coffee in the workplace, though the importance and benefits of offering a good (and free!) cuppa should never be underestimated! And as technological advancements and cultural shifts are fundamentally changing working culture and habits at a faster rate than ever before, with many of these greatly expedited by the pandemic, it is clear that employers will need to do more to attract and retain the best talent. Amid this ever-changing landscape in which flexible and hybrid working has increasingly become the norm, and with heightened employees’ expectations around their work experiences, especially when it comes to company values and employer actions on ESG and DEI issues, having some sort of barometer as to what employees and prospective candidates are thinking is absolutely essential for businesses’ attraction and retention strategies. Thankfully, specialist recruitment and outsourced talent services partner Jackson Hogg has recently launched its ‘Employee Perspectives’ whitepaper, in which it has surveyed a wide range and cross section of professionals from twelve different industry sectors, with its findings further underlining the evolving priorities of the modern workforce. Including excellent analysis and insight from HR Manager Victoria Kneafsey (Manghan), it is a must-read for any business that wishes to keep its finger on the pulse when it comes to understanding and addressing the changing needs and expectations of their current and future employees. Read our summary of the key findings here: https://lnkd.in/eaWGbisn You can find and download the full whitepaper here: https://lnkd.in/eUe5BkeS Richard Hogg Anthony Broadhead #NET #northeasttimes #NETCurated #JacksonHogg #recruitment #workplaceenvironment #workculture #workerexpectations #hr #leadership #employeebenefits #employeewellbeing #companyvalues #employeeretention #drivingconversations #makingconnections

What fuels engagement among deskless employees? At Flip, we surveyed 1,000 workers from manufacturing, retail, logistics, and other essential fields in the UK and Germany, revealing some eye-opening findings: 👇 👉 21% only meet the basic expectations. 👉 Just 47% feel recognized or valued. 👉 Workers who feel appreciated are 9 times more content and 3 times more likely to put in additional effort. These findings emphasize the importance of recognition and appreciation. Yet, it involves more than sporadic applause; integrating this into daily practices—acknowledging successes, having regular touchpoints, and offering meaningful incentives—is crucial. As we enter 2025, amidst the demands to do more with less, fostering a recognition-focused culture may be your strongest advantage. Implementing the right tools can make shaping this environment easier than anticipated! Keen to improve your employee experience in 2025? I recently attended a webinar titled "The HR and Employer Value Proposition," presented by Aravind Warrier. The session explored key issues across different generational workforces, particularly highlighting how the perspectives of Millennial employees have evolved post-COVID-19, and how Gen Z views their employers. In today’s landscape, it is crucial for HR professionals to provide employees with an exceptional experience by focusing on key attributes, such as: - Fostering deeper connections between employees, the business, and the employer. - Offering flexibility in work arrangements. - Aligning employees with a shared purpose, helping them understand and contribute to the business’s goals. - Supporting employee well-being, whether through gym access or other health-related benefits. - Facilitating personal growth opportunities, as today’s workforce places significant emphasis on their development. These elements are critical in meeting the expectations of modern employees and enhancing overall organizational success. #employeeexperience #genz #hradvancement #employervalue #businessgrowth

Did you already feel JOY today at work? 😀 Fantastic – because then it is most likely that you don’t seek for new job opportunities outside of your current workplace. If not, you belong to the > 25% of employees in the financial service industry, who don’t envision themselves working at their current organization one year from now … Find out more in our latest white paper for the #banking sector. I am proud to share our new publication on #Joy at work: how it positively influences retention, if it is taken as very serious people management factor, and how it increases attrition risk, if not. ✳ For financial institutions, we gathered more than 1,100 inputs from financial services employees worldwide and revealed the large effect of workplace joy on reducing risk of attrition by 49%! 🏦 This might make the difference how to bring #peoplestrategy in the banking sector to the next level. We encourage you to enhance your employee segmentation as Joy can be created differently: be it with stellar leadership behavior for #women 👩 , individual development opportunities for #GenZ, or an inclusive workplace for your #bestagers 🧓 Thank you, Pim Hilbers, Dr. Ronja Kuhne, Dr. Hannah Geibel for revealing this power of joy and creating this great publication!
