A 1x dev will get more done for your company if you hire them today than some make believe 10x unicorn dev with perfect fit skillsets will when you hire them never, because they don't exist. Quit fuckin around and be a human being. Hire the dev who's 3/4 of the way there and give them runway to show you how great they can be. This industry is disgusting right now.

Meet the amazing team behind Ovii. A year ago, I started building Ovii with some of the most dedicated, talented, and, let’s be honest, youngest engineers I’ve ever worked with. When Deeksha Athreya and Shrikrishna Pandit, both 19 and in their second year of engineering, joined, they had no experience with production codebases. But that didn’t stop them. They jumped in with so much energy and curiosity, learning quickly and helping shape the foundation of our scalable enterprise SaaS platform. They’ve been there every step of the way, showing grit and passion that still inspires me daily. Then there’s Aditya Bansod, our first full-time hire, who joined us during his final semester in college. I’ll never forget that phone call two days after he started—Aditya called me, unsure if he could handle it. He was overwhelmed and didn’t think he could do it. We ended up having a 40-minute pep talk. Fast forward to today, and Aditya is breezing through the codebase like he’s been doing it for years. His growth has been incredible, and his contributions are at the core of what we’ve built. I look at this team and remember the early frustrations, like the hardcoded values in production (😅). But I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything. From a group of students who had never touched a production environment to engineers who built ovii’s platform from scratch – their transformation has been nothing short of inspiring. And it’s not just about the journey. In the past year, we’ve hit some incredible milestones together. We launched our beta, scaling seamlessly to 200 concurrent tests without a hitch. We landed our first two paying customers, a huge validation of all the hard work we’ve put in. And now, we’ve been accepted into the Fall '24 cohort of the Founder Institute. It’s been a wild ride, but I couldn’t be prouder of Deeksha, Shrikrishna, Aditya, and the whole team. Their dedication and growth have been the heart and soul of ovii, and I know we’re just getting started. Here’s to everything we’ve built so far and all the exciting milestones still to come. 🚀 #MeetTheTeam #YoungTalent #EngineeringTeam #OVII #SaaS #StartupJourney #TechInnovation #FounderInstitute

Three years building Tech Stack. I’ve been so busy, I missed our actual company anniversary last month!! Here are three things I’ve learned in the last three years: 1. Product and making your product exceptional is everything. 2. Deliver so much value, your customers jump at the opportunity to tell others about you. 3. Stay focused on the thing. It’s easy to get distracted by other opportunities - stay focused on delivering ‘the thing.’ We’ve come so far in the last three years with the principles laid out above. This past year - we grew top line by over 40%, bottom line by over 80%, and in Q1 of 2024 we’ve done more revenue than we did all last year. So proud of what we’re building, the team we have delivering for clients, and the results our clients are getting. Here’s to many more 🥂 Also - here’s a picture of our first sign in our first office 😎

In 2020, Grab operated its microservices architecture primarily using two core HTTP API gateways: the API Gateway, written in Go and Gorilla/mux, serving mobile application requests, and the Partner Gateway, built on Kong Gateway, Nginx, and Lua, dedicated to partner integrations. Recognizing the need for a better-integrated approach, we decided to consolidate these gateways into a singular gateway solution, the T6 Gateway. This robust gateway solution leverages the strengths of both C++ and Go, ensuring seamless and secure data transfer, all built on top of the Envoy proxy open-source. Today, the T6 Gateway is a standard enterprise solution utilized across all Grab ecosystems. > T6 Gateway Data Plane is built via the Golang extension of the Envoy proxy. Three years ago, we made our demo interface layer, named "ego-demo*" available as an open source. Soon, we are gearing up to release the complete version of this interface layer to the community. ego-demo*: https://lnkd.in/gT433V6Q

🚀 Last week, we hosted an insightful dinner with senior engineers from companies like Amazon Music, Meta, and Netskope. Key Takeaways: 🔹 Product Teams & Ops Work: Product teams are now spending 30%-50% of their time on “ops” work. Whether driven by cost savings or a build-it-you-run-it approach, the increased operational overhead is taking time away from actually writing code. 🔹 Cognitive Load: With SRE team reductions/distribution, cognitive load on developers is too high. Solutions that boost developer efficiency are crucial. Stanza’s approach to providing “Reliability as a Library” for product teams resonated with this crowd. Looking Ahead: We plan to host more of these roundtables in the Bay Area to incorporate SME feedback. Interested in joining the next one? Let us know in the comments! #TechCommunity #SRE #DeveloperEfficiency #BayAreaEvents #ProductUpdates

Software Engineer at Labops | JavaScript, React.js | Node.js | Express.js | MongoDB | React Native | Next.js | Tailwind CSS
My Journey to Becoming a Software Engineer. As a software engineer at Labops, I’m living proof that you can achieve your dreams, no matter where you start. Coming from a Bachelor of Commerce. background and not having completed my degree yet, I faced skepticism and obstacles. Yet, fueled by an unwavering passion for technology, I refused to let my circumstances define me. Driven by a dream to become a software engineer, I dedicated countless hours to self-study and skill development. I immersed myself in coding, learning through online resources and community support. It wasn’t always easy, but each challenge fueled my determination to succeed. Today, I’m proud to be part of LabOps, a SaaS company revolutionizing laboratory management. Our platform empowers research teams by enhancing efficiency, collaboration, and data integrity. My journey has come full circle, allowing me to contribute to innovative solutions that make a real difference in the scientific community. I want to inspire anyone who feels limited by their background or education: Believe in yourself and your potential. Your journey may be unconventional, but it can lead to extraordinary places. If you’re passionate and persistent, you can turn your dreams into reality.

⚡️ Yesterday I had the honour and privilege of hosting a fireside chat with Raquel Urtasun, founder and CEO of Waabi, a world-renowned expert in the field of AI. During my time at Uber, I remember watching a fireside chat that Andrew Macdonald hosted during Raquel’s first week as Uber’s Chief Scientist. I was blown away to have such a strong, progressive, global leader right here in Toronto, let alone within our company. Witnessing Raquel’s journey from then to now has been nothing short of inspiring for the entire Canadian tech community. Here are just 3 of the many takeaways from our time together that I am energized to apply to my day-to-day and felt compelled to share: 1️⃣ Be Bold, Aim High: the path to success in your career is seldom linear. Celebrate the highs but embrace the lows, they build grit and teach you just as much as your wins. 2️⃣ Strategic and Inclusive Hiring: Diversity fuels innovation. By fostering an inclusive hiring process, we elevate the caliber of our teams. We must focus on always raising the bar of our teams as they grow. 3️⃣ Embrace Growth: Everyone has doubts and insecurities but if you focus on pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and double down on your personal growth journey, you will never stop learning and will continue to level yourself up. 🔥 I left our conversation feeling fired up, with some tactical next steps to elevate my game. Thank you Raquel Urtasun for your continued leadership and for taking the time to connect with the GoBolt team. Here’s to pushing boundaries, fostering inclusivity, and relentlessly pursuing growth. 💪 🤝 📈
