Highway 401 is crippled. East-west transit times are brutal especially to Pearson International Airport which is Canada’s largest airport. The 401 is beyond the capacity intended when it was built more than half a century ago. Here’s a solution that won’t cost taxpayers a dollar and will put more money into our government treasury every year: BAN TRANPORT TRUCKS ON HIGHWAY 401 from Burlington to Clarington. Only allow cube vans for local deliveries. Transport traffic can reroute to the underutilized 407 toll route and generate toll income for the Province. Removing transport trucks from the 401 will significantly free up traffic and enhance driving safety. We need common sense solutions to common problems that damage our quality of life. Let’s get with it.

On 96th Street, 74% of households do not own cars and 68% of residents commute by public transportation, but bus speeds along the road are as low as 4mph during peak hours. Now, 1.7 miles of new bus lanes will make the 96th St less congested and safer for everyone, especially the 15,000 daily weekday riders of this Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus route.

Riders of the East Bay’s largest bus operator, AC Transit, could see significant service changes under a years-long plan altering routes, frequencies, and schedules in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The plan, aimed at adjusting to long-lasting shifts in ridership habits since the pandemic, includes consolidating some routes, changing service frequencies, and creating new bus lines. https://lnkd.in/gcEi7RrT #publictransit #actransit #eastbay #servicechanges #postpandemictransit

Three public transport service priorities for new state Liberal leader Brad Battin (and the current govt for that matter). 1. Ending service stagnation by building a commonsense 7 day bus network for the suburbs with better frequency, hours, directness and coverage. 2. Working lazy train, tram and bus assets harder for shorter waits across the week to support working people and major events. 3. Defending revenue and cutting waste, including scrapping the free tram zone, tackling fare evasion so more pay their way & seeking productivity and process efficiencies in DTP and on the network to enable better service happen sooner. They're not everything you'd want (there's also scope for cost-effective infrastructure for train, tram, bus etc) but the above three could change lives & save people money with better PT in a tight budget environment.
