If you’re sitting around waiting for that big donor gift, you’re sitting in the past. Institutions like Unity Environmental University recognize their success shouldn’t be measured by the number of students who didn’t get in. The future of higher ed is based on breaking down the barriers of entry to maximize the number of students getting degrees. There are so many kinds of students who will help your school fulfill its mission. Provide a student-centered education that gives them the change they need. #studentcentric #higheredmarketing #marketingstrategy

Dean of Business | Author | Over 25 years as an entrepreneur and leader in entrepreneurial settings | PhD in History
Aurora College - soon to be the North's first Polytechnic University - has found itself in an unusual situation. The school, which typically accepts less than a dozen international students per year, has been deluged with applications from abroad. The reason? Unexpected publicity on social media, which has included some misleading claims. What the story really tells us, is how attractive Canadian education, residence and citizenship is to individuals from other nations, and should push us again to understand why that is, and what we can do to help. #highereducation #internationalstudents #AuroraCollege Did this YouTube account break Aurora College’s admissions? Greatness starts with a dream...
The DLD Conference was life changing for me in many ways, but more importantly because I got to give a keynote speech about our lofty dreams of helping the forgotten children find their rightful place in the world again. I was a little nervous before going up stage, but God’s promise to us remains true that he hasn’t given us the spirit of fear, but of love, power and of a Soundmind. My speech was captured as a top highlight of the event and deeply resonated with thousands of people in attendance. Every time I get to talk about the work that we do @chessinslums , I’m reminded that I do not speak for myself alone, but on behalf of millions of children across Africa whose hopes and dreams could depend on this. It’s a privilege of a lifetime that I’m able to stand in the gap for them. And someday, when the stars we bring up align, they will get to speak on global stages like this one, and extend the same opportunities to other children like them. Here’s to raising a new generation of thinkers that will challenge the status quo and bring Africa to the prosperity it truly deserves. Here’s to doing great things from a small place❤️

Each of us upholds or dismantles power systems every day, like when we choose where to put our hard-earned money on #givingtuesday. In a healthy democratic system, system-level power emerges from community empowerment. On the other hand, systemic disinvestment damages the connection between community and governance, and threatens the individual's ability to survive and thrive. You know the importance of teaching youth to recognize systemic power. The crucial next step is to invite youth to respectfully interrogate and collaborate with the system that will soon be theirs. I can think of no better organization that increases our capacity for community engagement than The Global Academy for Community-Based Education. #GACBE supports students in addressing systemic challenges in their own community, teaching how to ask questions of shareholders outside the classroom, and looking for feasible community-driven solutions. It's the ultimate inquiry-driven project-based holistic learning model. This mode of discourse has the power to transform by creating new perspectives for decision-makers, building connections across sectors, and empowering the youth to envision a role in their community's future. I have the honor of serving on the board of this brand new 501c3. It has established impact and tremendous potential. Because we are a new nonprofit, your help can make a tremendous difference, whatever the amount. Please donate at https://lnkd.in/eCnWDubs. To learn more, visit www.CBEglobal.org. This year is the 70th anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board decision (1954) and its fight for desegregation in schools. While progress has been made, significant challenges remain. Desegregation efforts faced roadblocks, leaving the promise of Brown largely unfulfilled. But the fight for educational equity continues. At CNE, we champion nonprofits working to close the achievement gap and dismantle systemic barriers. Together, let's build on the legacy of Brown v. Board to ensure ALL students have access to a quality, equitable education. https://buff.ly/454Digg
