It was a motivational morning at the Columbia Chamber Breakfast Briefing hosted by Carl Blackstone and his team. We heard from Ryan Coleman, CEcD and Jason J. Giulietti who talked about the economic surge occurring in Columbia, SC. While we eagerly await the 4,000+ jobs created by Scout Motors Inc. and their manufacturing plant opening in Blythewood, SC in 2027, we are experiencing bolstering economic advances which are drawing and retaining business professionals from all over the world. In 2023, we saw 460 New Businesses in the city of Columbia (Source: City of Columbia, 1.1.23 - 10.16.23). South Carolina also received the 2nd highest industry recruitment in 2023. Driven by $9.22 Billion of capital investment on the heels of a record setting 2022. This includes major investments in the state’s two leading industry sectors - Automotive, Electric Vehicles (EV) and EV Batteries, and Alternative Energy and Fuels. Exciting times ahead for the seven counties which make up central South Carolina!
