I urge you to take this very informative survey to test your perceptions of violence against women, and provide important insights to White Ribbon Australia to assist in combating gendered violence. This affects everyone in our society, and it's everyone's responsibility to do something about it, big or small. #genderedviolence #domesticviolenceprevention #coercivecontrol

How can we think we can start attempting to tackle this epidemic, not when there are so many things that are promoting and encouraging the mindset of what will eventually become abuse. The things we need to change before we will effectively see a change is harder and requires more reach than a government has. Society and Social Norms need to change. The mindset needs to change, because its all good and well to say, using violence is not okay and we need to stop domestic violence but at the same time: •toxic masculinity is still prevalent, •the pay gap and industry gender bias is still a promoted business model, •gender roles are an integral component taught about relationships, •"boys will be boys" is still an acceptable defence used by parents, trying to defend their children being violent and by teachers, principals etc. to protect the violent child or explain the lack of punishment etc. or downplaying the severity of the situation •when men sexualising and body shaming women is not only an accepted behaviour but promoted amongst their fellow men, •when a man's masculinity is socially defined by his power and control in a relationship, how much he contributes financially, what he is expected to contribute and things he shouldnt do within a relationship and or household etc. and this is the conceptual men keep teaching generationally and isnt adapting and yet expecting mens mentality to change to the times, •better yet why is fracturing a mans masculinity a problem we need to actively work around? My questions to you are: Why is healthy management and dispute resolution not taught in school? Why is there barely any discussion around the meaning and use of consent not covered and taught in schools? Why is healthy relationship not more important to teach kids? Why is it so hard for victims to access and be eligible for support? Why are victims suffering trying to leave? Why is it acceptable in the governments mind for women and children to go hungry to lose their jobs, to be homeless for trying to leave dv? Why are women forced to be scared of speaking up/their decisions to leave being having their children removed? Why is there no federal laws against it making a universal policies and punishment for FDV because it is a federal problem and the difference between states creates a system of unfair advantage for perpetrators prosecuted state to state. The government needs to take action in every step of the process at all at once before we can start to change. We need action in Prevention, Treatment, Actions for supporting Victims, Judiciary Reform, Social Justice, Housing, Education and Health. Thats just the start of reform.
Our CEO, Melissa Perry, will be heading to Canberra with Jackson Katz later this week to meet with parliamentary representatives to advocate for change. Today, we are asking everyone to comment below or send us a message with one thing you would want our government to know about violence against women. #takeactionthisMay

On this International Women's Day, let us celebrate the accomplishments of women and honor those who paved the way for women's success and progress. Additionally, let us amplify the voices of women who have faced domestic, gender-based, and other forms of sexual assault and violence. We must speak out against such injustices and support those who have been affected by them. #internationalwomensday2024

In the tapestry of history, women have fought tirelessly for their rights and dignity, making significant strides against the odds. Yet, violence against women remains a pervasive barrier to true equality and freedom. As we honor the struggles and triumphs of women throughout history, let's commit to ending violence, ensuring their sacrifices lead to a future where every woman can live without fear. This is our time to write a new chapter in history, one where equality and respect are non-negotiable rights for all. #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #WomensHistory #EqualityForAll #HerStoryOurFuture"
