Space isn't merely what we see and what is represented by the buildings around us. Space goes beyond that. It goes beyond what is conceived. It goes into what we perceive and how we experience it. San Jose has everything it needs to become a great city. It has potential for economic growth, It's a networking hub, and a diverse ecosystem. But these alone won't raise the quality of life or increase the city's revenue. It'll take proper planning and deliberate execution to improve the city as a whole. #CCIM #EconomicGrowth #EconomicImpact #UrbanLifestyle #ReBirth&Activation #QualityOfLife Judah Rouss | Chad Huston | Michael Luong | 🔸Helen HL Chong, CCIM, CIPS | Catherine House, CRE, FRICS, CCIM | Eric Rehn, CCIM | Tim Tikalsky, CPA, CCIM | Tim Vi Tran, SIOR, CCIM, Commercial Real Estate Advisor | Matt Mahan | Johnny Khamis | Tony Rishell, CCIM, CPM | Terry Shores | CCIM--Northern California Chapter | Maxim Shapiro, MBA, MSF, CCIM | Jay Paul Company | Google | Mackenzie Mossing Here's what Matt Mahan plans to do...

Orlando ranked as the least walkable U.S. city in a study by Preply, taking over 11 hours to walk between its major attractions. CHICAGO emerged as the most walkable. Orlando's poor walkability is consistent with past reports, and pedestrian safety remains a concern. Agree or disagree with our opinion? Our audience who joined us online for our recent showcase series had the opportunity to hear from Jonathan O’Brien from YIMBY Melbourne, and he shared some key insights from driving the YIMBY (Yes In My Backyard) movement in Victoria: * People opposed to density tend to be the loudest voices in the room – we need to give a voice to the silent majority. * Currently, there is no mechanism to pledge support for densification. There needs to be a reform to make ‘yes’ the default position. * People support densification when they realise the benefits: having family close by and ensuring future generations have access to similar amenities, making houses more affordable and supporting the next generation to own homes, creating a more sustainable city by choosing urban density over urban sprawl, and being a solution to reduce homelessness. * Ensuring engagement is reflective of community profiles and demographics is likely to change the result. Examples from Canada and New Zealand show a 23–27% difference in approval when a process is opt-in versus representative of community. If you have a view about the future of our cities, suburbs, towns and regions, share your thoughts as the Department of Transport and Planning develops a plan for Victoria: https://lnkd.in/eDgHeVrQ #MetroPartnerships #DecisionMaking #CommunityEngagement

International "World Town Planning Day" was founded in 1949 by Carlos Maria della Paolera to educate people about the importance of thoughtful urban planning in cities around the world. 🌎 Today and everyday, USP recognizes how the district's built environment impacts the way we perceive and experience life in Union Square. That's why advancing public space, safety, and accessibility are key priorities of our USQNext Vision Plan. 🏙️https://lnkd.in/gQsecNUn How will you celebrate cities today?

"Baltimore’s creatives, restaurateurs and entrepreneurs should be the face for millions of residents, tourists and suburbanites who enter our city, but we need to create the foundation for our center city to fully actualize that vision." "This is what the sports teams, Downtown and Waterfront Partnerships, and the many development partners shaping the vision for a Renaissance 2.0 envision. The outcomes will largely depend on public-private partnerships which have been the approach of major cities to create destinations that don’t just meet a baseline threshold, but wow us." Read my joint column with GBC Board chairman Dr. Mohan Suntha. Our upcoming event (https://lnkd.in/eVHXw9xe) will dive deep into this vision.
