Wales’ leading government relations and strategic communications agency, Deryn, has been acquired by one of the sector’s biggest UK players. The deal, the value of which has not been disclosed, sees Cavendish’s expanding its geographic presence across the UK. As part of the deal founders of Deryn in Cathy Owens and Nerys Evans will remain with the Cardiff-based business. #cardiff #business

When it's not part of your normal routine, media pitching can feel daunting, but we all know that being visible is part of growing your business. So, we've got to find ways to take the ick out of PR. To help the process, I broke it down into three simple concepts: Research, Respect and Resonate. These three R’s of pitching build credibility and foster a positive relationship with media outlets in the area, leading to top-tier media wins and increased awareness. It’s outrageous that Steve Hayes, the very person who falsely accused me of harassment (only for all charges to be dropped), is now being paraded as a thought leader at the National Housing Federation, Comms and Influencing in Housing Conference. This is the same individual who labels critics as “troublemakers” and has been part of an organisation that aggressively silenced legitimate concerns—including pressuring the Oxford Mail for daring to draw parallels to Grenfell! The same man whose actions ended up with GreenSquareAccord being criticised in a House of Commons debate! And let’s not forget the glaring conflict of interest: GreenSquareAccord’s CEO conveniently sits on the NHF board. How are residents supposed to trust an organisation that elevates those with such questionable track records? It’s easy to “build lasting relationships” when you’re talking about cozy boardroom alliances—but where is that energy when it comes to residents desperately seeking accountability? This kind of back-slapping self-promotion is a perfect example of what’s wrong in the housing sector. Instead of granting platforms to individuals like Hayes, who have actively stifled criticism and accountability, the NHF should focus on empowering the voices of those who have been marginalised by these very organisations. Building Community on Haverstock Hill: First Month Recap We're thrilled to share the early progress of our Haverstock Hill B2B Community Engagement Project. This initiative, launched in mid November, is designed to foster collaboration among local businesses and create a vibrant, interconnected community. Here's what we've achieved so far: 🔹 Engagement Efforts: Visited 12 businesses, introduced the project, and distributed key resources. Despite initial scepticism, regular follow-ups are building trust and sparking interest from business owners and residents alike. 🔹 Milestones Reached: Collaborations with local restaurants, partnerships with a printing business for event promotion, and a record-breaking week of sales for one of our partners. 🔹 Volunteer Power: 11 amazing volunteers are now driving both the B2B engagement and our urban intervention initiatives, with plans to strengthen ties and impact. Next Steps: We’re launching a digital marketing campaign, engaging local authorities, and hosting a soft launch event on 13 December. This Latin American-themed evening will spotlight the community’s talent and potential. While challenges like limited funding and trust-building remain, we’ve seen early signs of success.
