Teachers contribute more to reading and math outcomes than any other factor of schooling. That’s why it’s crucial to have the supports in place to recruit and retain high-quality, effective educators. We work with our states to develop and support teacher apprenticeship programs, policy changes that lead to higher starting salaries for teachers, adult learning tools that promote engaging professional development, and so much more. It’s all part of the R5CC difference! https://lnkd.in/gHfktFkR

If a country wants to position itself to be "great," education is undeniably important. Yet, for a host of reasons, higher education is taking a beating. Many may certainly become nicely educated and skilled following other routes, from apprenticeships to specialty schools. However, scholarship in thoughtfully crafted programs supports a perpetual growth in strategic leadership and innovation. What do you believe should be done to bolster faith, interest, and confidence in high education?
Colleges are now closing at a pace of one a week. What happens to the students?

To grade or not to grade…….. I did an observation of a functional skills session that was an absolute joy. All the apprentices were already present and teady to learn five minutes before the 9.30 start time. They were rach given a different card with a starter activity which had an element of reinforcement of what they had previously learnt. The tutor took the register and knew one apprentice was off ill and another would join 30 minutes late because of a medical appointment. The tutor went round the group to ensure everyone knew what they were doing. The session went onto an input about ratios related to the vocational area followed by a task to do with their personal incomes and what was essential, non-essential and spare (savings) income. All were fully involved, able to compute numbers and learnt about how much they wasted and could save. They enjoyed it, got through some relevant learning and their tutor pushed them but at a perfect pace. Grading here is now on a three point traffic light scale - green for outstanding/good, amber for sayisfactory/requires improvement and red for inadequate. A group profile was in place and there was one tiny quick fix improvement. My feedback included reference to what it was in old money, outstanding, as the person had voluteered to let me observe with a few minutes notice. What a pleasure for me and her learners.

Secretary of State Bridget Phillipson announces Pause and Review of the Level 3 reforms in England🗣🙌 In a significant development for the education sector, Bridget Phillipson has announced a one-year pause on the removal of funding for certain post-16 qualifications in England. This thoughtful decision allows for a comprehensive review of the ongoing reforms and ensures that The DfE will place a one year pause on the removal of 16 to 19 funding from qualifications assessed as overlapping with T Levels, namely those in construction and the built environment, digital, education and early years, and health and science. These qualifications were originally scheduled to have their funding approval removed in the 16 to 19 offer after 31 July 2024 but will now continue to remain available up to 31 July 2025. 📆 Pearson applauds the new Labour Government for their responsive approach and commitment to stability and progress in education. We remain dedicated to offering a broad spectrum of qualifications to support the diverse needs and aspirations of learners👏 Sign up for further updates as we continue to engage with the government review and advocate for the best outcomes for education providers and students alike ➡ https://lnkd.in/e23EP-f9 ✍ Pearson BTEC and Apprenticeships #EducationReform #FundingPause #ProtectStudentChoice
