Donate to Ventura County Community Foundation Storm Fund 👉🏾 https://bit.ly/3UmcOU4 • The County of Ventura, along with Ventura, Oxnard, and Port Hueneme, has teamed up with the Ventura County Community Foundation to manage donations. The aftermath has left devastation, especially for uninsured residents, particularly vulnerable seniors in low-income areas. Moreover, local agencies haven't met FEMA's damage thresholds, exacerbating the situation. Gifts of any size are helpful to those most in need. All administrative fees have been waived for these funds to provide immediate support to our most vulnerable communities. https://bit.ly/3UmcPaA

More Rain to Hit San Diego Tomorrow -- Access recommended funds, organizations, and resources here ⚠ Governor Newsom has declared a State of Emergency for San Diego County due to the recent winter storms and subsequent flooding. Another wave of record-setting rainstorms is arriving this Thursday and is again expected to have a severe impact on some of San Diego’s most marginalized communities. As part of the Philanthropy California alliance, Catalyst will continue monitoring, vetting, and sharing funds to the Philanthropy California 2024 California Disaster Response resources page (https://lnkd.in/gYiW5mRQ). We focus specifically on elevating funds that support nonprofits active in place-based relief and recovery efforts, particularly in communities facing structural inequities. Recommended funds, organizations, and resources from San Diego County-serving organizations include: 🔹 San Diego Foundation has activated its Flood Response Fund to rapidly deploy flexible resources into the community and make emergency grants to nonprofits engaged in disaster response/relief and matching donations up to $100,000. 🔹The City of San Diego’s Business Emergency Response & Resilience Grant program will provide up to $2,500 per business (and up to $5,000 for businesses/nonprofits in Promise Zone & Low-Moderate Income Census tract areas) impacted by flooding. https://lnkd.in/gd9m5t6S 🔹County of San Diego is collecting voluntary damage information, which will be used to determine if the County should request state and/or federal assistance. (This form is not a guarantee of disaster relief assistance, nor a substitution for submitting insurance claims). https://lnkd.in/g-aNq7ZK 🔹Jackie Robinson Family YMCA's Community Hub coordinates volunteers to clean up flood-damaged areas, offers showers for displaced people, and distributes essential items. They are collecting blankets, jackets, socks, towels, hygiene products, and more. https://lnkd.in/g-S5mKEd 🔹The County of San Diego Black Chamber of Commerce is providing grants and technical assistance to small businesses impacted by the flooding. https://lnkd.in/dYUEnyM 🔹Legal Aid Society of San Diego created the resource, “Flood Related Damage to Residential Rental Housing: What Tenants and Landlords Need to Know.” They also provide legal services to low-income and vulnerable individuals and families. https://lnkd.in/gTAYnKnU As the San Diego community grapples with these challenges, there is an urgent need for support to aid in recovery efforts and assist those affected by the ongoing flooding. Your support is instrumental in providing assistance to those impacted – thank you for considering these resources. #philanthropy #disasterresponse #sandiego #sandiegofloods #donations #philanthropyca

Flood Recovery Update The Department is working with licensees and agents to assess damage and assist in cleanup efforts for impacted businesses. A survey of our stakeholders indicates that more than ten percent of our licensees and agents experienced flood damage. Some businesses, including Lyndonville Redemption & Beverage will remain closed until further notice. You can visit our website to learn more about resources available for flood-impacted Vermonters, and to learn how you can support recovery efforts by donating and volunteering. If you were impacted by the flood, it is important you document and report damage. You can report damage online (preferred), or by calling 211. Documenting your damage is important for two reasons: 1) it will be useful if you submit an insurance claim and 2) it will help the state apply for federal disaster assistance.

The 2021 Marshall Fire near Boulder was Colorado’s most destructive and costliest wildfire, burning down more than 1,000 homes and causing $2 billion in damages. Researchers analyzed donations sent through the crowdfunding site GoFundMe to people who lost their homes in the blaze Wealthier people were more likely to have a GoFundMe campaign started for them. People with household incomes above $150,000 received nearly 30% more money, on average, than those with incomes below $75,000. Some Marshall Fire survivors received more than $60,000 in donations, while others received less than $5,000. What's more, federal disaster aid doesn’t fill the gap. According to the study, wildfire survivors who got property damage support from FEMA received an average of $2,500 https://lnkd.in/eR78pJJu

PAY IT FORWARD OPPORTUNITY HOW TO HELP AFTER HURRICANE HELENE (By Jan Wesner Childs) Watching an unfolding disaster can often be heartbreaking for those outside of it, and absolutely devastating for anyone living through it. Here’s how you can help victims of Hurricane Helene as the full impacts of the storm become clear in the coming days. REMEMBER THAT CASH IS KING While donations of clothing, food and bottled water inevitably rush in, aid organizations say they can create logistical nightmares. A financial contribution to a reputable organization, on the other hand, can be funneled to wherever and whatever need is greatest. KNOW WHO YOU'RE GIVING TO Charity scams abound amid devastating weather events and other disasters. Just a few minutes of research can make sure you’re giving to a trusted organization. Check Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance, the Charity Navigator, Charity Watch or GuideStar for the best information. To view a short list of where to donate, click on the below link: https://lnkd.in/grJuWwDQ Also, Samaritan's Purse is another reputable non-profit organization currently receiving disaster relief donations for those affected by Hurricane Helene: https://lnkd.in/gs2f-wX — #payitforward #hurricanehelene #hurricanerelief
