🎉 💡 The Energy Access Explorer got the spotlight again as one of the energy modelling tool training tracks at the Energy Modelling Platform – Joint Global Training School 2024, held in Trieste, Italy! For three weeks, eight participants from six African countries—Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda—received in-depth training on the Energy Access Explorer platform. The sessions covered both the back-end infrastructure and front-end interface, equipping participants with enhanced skills in data visualization, analytical capabilities, and data management. The training also emphasized the importance of understanding the roles of all stakeholders and developing strategies for local ownership and sustainability of the platform. The participants were drawn from Ministries of Energy, Subnational Governments, Planning Agencies, Energy Utilities, Electrification Agencies, and National Statistics Offices. All participants developed and presented unique case studies using the Energy Access Explorer to support energy planning and decision-making in their respective countries. We look forward to more initiatives like this aimed at empowering Africa's energy planners and stakeholders to use data tools to drive adoption of renewable energy across Africa to enhance energy access. Excited to announce the publication of our latest paper: "Energising the Future: A Dynamic Capabilities Approach to Vietnam’s Renewable Energy Industry From the Supply and Demand Side" in the Journal of Environment & Development (Q1). Together with an amazing team of researchers from RMIT University Vietnam, James Cook University, and Phenikaa University — Abel Duarte Alonso, Oanh Thi Kim Vu, Trung Quang Nguyen, Nhan H. Nguyen, and Thanh Duc Tran — we explored the renewable energy landscape in Vietnam, examining the dynamic interplay between supply and demand. Using the Dynamic Capabilities Framework, we uncovered key insights from industry representatives, identifying 18 critical dimensions. From sensing opportunities to seizing innovations and reconfiguring capabilities, this study offers a deeper understanding of the renewable energy sector's growth and potential in an emerging economy. I asked the question to Mr. Suresh (Nuclear Energy Expert) from India about the prospects of Triple Nuclear Energy. 25 countries are signaturories in the COP-28 to achieve an ambitious goal to have Triple Nuclear Energy till 2050.

Universal Energy access! I participated in a three-day training session hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank and Trama TecnoAmbiental, S.L., a consultant for Rural Electrification planning. During these three days, I gained deeper insights into: • Rural Electrification Plan (REP) projects in Suriname, aiming to electrify a total of 195 communities. • The proposed regulatory framework and the various institutions involved in this project. • The REP tracking tool, a database mapping the 195 communities with detailed information. • SESIA for REP projects, focusing on the impacts of renewable energy projects on communities. According to OLADE, Suriname has the lowest rate of electrification in the Caribbean and South American region. With the REP, Suriname will be able to increase its electrification rate, moving one step closer to achieving SDG 7. #SustainableEnergy #SDG7 #SE4ALL #GreenEnegry

As part of my quest to equip my self with the required skills, information, and knowledge needed to be numbered among those who shape and find lasting solutions in the renewable energy sector, I am delighted to announce that, I have been selected for the Sustainable Energy Accelerator program(SEA). Sustainably is a major factor to be considered in our routine endeavours. Some of the key takeaways for the SEA training workshop include: 1. Generally, we have two forms of energy. The renewable and nonrenewable energy. 2. Renewable energy is derived from sources that can be replenished at a higher rate than can be consumed. I.e Sunlight & wind. 3. Non renewable energy sources include coal, natural gas e.t.c They are finite and cannot be replenished. 4. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed, bt it can be transformed from one form to another (conservation). 5. Waste can be used to generate gas for energy generation. 6. Africa should be able to guarantee energy security, universal power, safe, affordable and reliable sources of energy. 7. Sustainable energy supply must met in a way it doesn't cause harm or damage to humans, the environment and the entire ecosystem. 8. Sustainable energy should not only guarantee energy security, but also safe and affordable energy solutions. #SEAImpact AIIDEV Africa

Excited to announce the publication of my latest paper, 'Transplanting the EU Directives on Renewable Energy to the ECOWAS Supplementary Act: A Catalyst for Positive Change?' This paper takes a unique approach, focusing on the role of regional intervention in engineering the growth of the renewable energy sector. It analyses the ECOWAS Supplementary Act/Policy 2013 on Renewable Energy Development, which was influenced by the EU model with specific modifications, and reveals significant progress in the region's renewable energy development since its adoption. Findings highlight the potential improvements needed to facilitate progress in advancing renewable energy and promoting universal electrification in the region’s underserved populations.
