How Do You Know What Time Zone To Hire From? 🕰️ ( video in description) Here are some real-life scenarios exemplifying what time zones are best to hire from: 👨 Bob in New York City (ET): He’s hiring developers and is cool with a few hours’ overlap with his team in Europe. Hence, he might opt to hire from Serbia 🇷🇸 , Poland 🇵🇱 , or Ukraine 🇺🇦 . 👩 Jessica in Denver (MT): She needs an executive assistant and prefers someone closer to her time zone. She will gain more timezone overlap with LATAM talents. Colombia 🇨🇴 or Brazil 🇧🇷 might be ideal for Jessica's assistant role, considering they're closer to her time zone. Sales reps and similar roles should ideally match the time zone of their market. For instance, if targeting the US market, consider hiring sales reps from LATAM. For roles requiring less immediate team communication or interaction with clients in different time zones, sourcing talent from Europe might be more suitable. Ultimately, the decision depends on your company’s goals and workflow. What works for another company may not work for you.

Wishing I could take credit for the original post, but this gave me a good chuckle when I saw it over the weekend! It’s funny because it’s true. But… good agents (recruiters) were involved. It was a desirable job that paid well (and *gasp*, it wasn’t fully remote). It proves the value of a strong network. And so much more! Story time about why I started Digital Executive What drove me to quit my day job and start a nearshoring company? Honestly, looking back, I still think it’s kind of crazy. I left a stable job and took a chance on something I believed in. I started nearshoring in 2020. I was a part owner in a small marketing firm. One of our assistants moved to Argentina. When it was time to hire another marketing assistant, he recommended a friend. One thing led to another and we ended up having 11 people on the team, all based in Buenos Aires. I have worked with people from all over the world, but this was different. What made this team exceptional? Their autonomy. Instead of micromanagement, the team operated seamlessly, which gave me back a lot of time. Fast forward to a couple of years later. I took a job working for a US-based company with a massive Indian team. It was hard. Time zones and language barriers ended up costing us the savings margin. What should've taken minutes evolved into weeks because of the time zone inability to jump on a quick call and solve small issues. Here were my takeaways: - Spanish-to-English is so much easier to collaborate with. - The most valuable tool to a remote team is the ability to jump on a video call during working hours. I left and founded Digital Executive. We cultivate exceptional teams. Teams that you can rely on, collaborate with, and share jokes with.
