GreenCoat®’s Post

These Lake Drive Homes in Dorset are a work in progress project by the British architect Richard Brown, BrownUrbanism. Contrast is the key factor in their design with rough textured cast in-situ concrete and a carefully folded and tailored standing seam jacket in GreenCoat® color coated steel from SSAB. The two identical houses seek to extend the concept of the open plan, split-level suburban home. A theme based on complex arrangements of roof forms found in the typical suburban typology - mono pitches, gables and hip roofs with a variety of barge and verge details.   The houses are being built with high insulation values, natural stack ventilation, standing seam embedded solar panels and heat pumps. The steel shell from GreenCoat® contributes with a coating using Swedish rapeseed oil. Sampling has been an integral part of the detailed design for the lower walls’ exposed concrete and the steel cladding of the upper timber frame. The GreenCoat® color coated steel will be supplied by Metal Solutions Ltd and installed by EBM ROOFING LIMITED. #architecture #steel #britisharchitecture #rapeseedoil
