"My job is to move hearts" - that's what I told a community partner in our meeting to explore collaboration. Some people's job is to move needles, i.e. what they do has greater environmental impact, usually through implementing technology, equipment changes, or funding large scale infrastructure projects. My job is to move hearts. We support community projects that usually have smaller environmental benefits and can't really move the needle. We encourage ground-up initiatives and support individuals, non-profit organisations and grassroots with funding. We change mindsets, one at a time. It's slower but necessary. In the long run, moving hearts can lead to moving needles, when small initiatives and organisations scale up over time and achieve greater environmental impact. When moving hearts lead to more people taking action and shifting towards more sustainable practices, we are moving needles. Moving hearts or moving needles, we all play a part. What's your job? My advice to anyone reading this is this: Log off of here for a while. Go do some things to help where you can. And if you think that's here, be judicious about what you post, and very about how it is meant to materially help. You could look up your local unhoused and underserved community resource group, community pantry or Planned Parenthood, &c, and ask them what kind of help they need. Or search for other volunteer opportunities near you. Or even just talk or plan with friends about what you want to work at making different. Organize a day of service for your teams. Anything. Anything can help.

"No! That is mine. You buy yours," snapped a mere 4-year-old child, her words echoing with surprising rudeness. 🥀 I've recently noticed a disturbing trend: the loss of innocence in children. 🥀 There's an unsettling increase in rudeness, selfishness, and a general lack of empathy in their behavior. 🥀 There are many possible reasons for this shift, such as living self-centered lives, excessive screen time, and a lack of real social interaction. 🥀 However, there's one powerful antidote that can ground us and our children, helping us rediscover the importance of social connections, people, and gratitude: 🎯 Community Service. 🥀 Encouraging children to engage in community service can introduce them to a world of social causes and foster a sense of empathy and responsibility. 🥀 The long-term impact on their lives is profound, helping them grow into compassionate, aware, and socially responsible individuals. 🥀 This isn't just beneficial for children—adults can greatly benefit from community service as well. ⁉ How often do you find yourself giving back to the community through service?

Communities exist for human flourishing. When they cease to provide this, they cease to be a community and turn into something else. Usually, a community devolves into a mere marketplace. (What else is left but seeking gain, when the purpose no longer remains clear?) This is what I mean when I bring up "profit AND purpose". When one wins out over the other, it creates an unsustainable imbalance that will incur negative consequences. This is not a question that is faced one time and then remains fully resolved. This is a question that will continue to reappear at pivotal moments. The very survival of what we call "community" is always in play. When we base community on values/purpose then we all should be seen as having equal stake in its success. (This is part of the definition of "communitas".) Do we need community or a marketplace? (Let's not continue to conflate the two because we need both.)

My mentor once told me: In work, it is not all about money. My yonger self sayd: He say so because he have it After a long time I realized he was right. There are three stages of employment lifetime 1- Acquiring. It inclods experience, money, and knowledge. 2- Acquiring and giving back at the same time. At this time money is not priority (it is there) as much as status, and giving back to community. 3-last, the giving time. At this period money is abondonce and it will finding it's way. The joye of giving back to the yong generation and community is the priority.

I often speak to school leaders who say they would love to have their stakeholders, particularly parents, more engaged with their setting. Particularly in secondary school. When my children went off to secondary school, I hated it. I didn’t get to hear what they were doing, I heard from them what they needed for certain lessons, and not getting that information directly from their teacher often meant I got to know the night before, or even that morning - never forget the call at 8.45am that he’d forgotten he needed a sword and a box of French Fancies for some drama project at 10am! Schools are in a unique position when it comes to their social media in particular. Parents and caregivers want to celebrate their child’s school. How many businesses can say that their audience is actively waiting to see posts from them? Not many. Milk it for all it’s worth. You’ve got an engaged audience, ready and waiting to help you celebrate success. It’s never been easier to: ✅ Celebrate your school. ✅ Share your team’s and pupil’s achievements. ✅ Point families to revision tips and study help. ✅ Communicate upcoming events. ✅ Talk about charity work and helping their community. We work with schools who are doing a fantastic job with this. Are you using it to your advantage?

Community: I have made it my mission to connect deeply with as many people as possible. 3. Contribution: I will do whatever I can to help people make more money and live more joy-filled lives.

Helping a poor person can be a meaningful and impactful way to make a difference in someone's life. Here are some ways to provide assistance: 1. Financial Support: Offering direct financial help can address immediate needs like food, clothing, and shelter. Even small donations can make a significant difference. 2. Education and Training: Providing access to education and skill development programs can empower individuals to break the cycle of poverty. Sponsoring a child’s education or supporting vocational training can have long-lasting benefits. 3. Employment Opportunities: Helping a person find stable employment can provide a sustainable source of income. This can involve connecting them with job opportunities, offering career advice, or providing tools and resources needed for job searching. 4. Access to Healthcare: Poor health can be both a cause and effect of poverty. Assisting with medical expenses, facilitating access to healthcare services, or supporting health education can improve their overall well-being. 5. Community Support: Building a supportive community environment can make a big difference. This can include organizing local support groups, creating community centers, or advocating for social services that benefit low-income individuals. Each act of kindness contributes to improving the lives of those in need and helps build a more equitable society. follow me:Muhammad Imtiaz

For people who think that "just get a job", or "just (insert action)" is an answer. Consider how difficult it is to focus on fulfilling higher needs when your most basic ones are going unmet. We NEED food, shelter, clothing, water & sleep just to achieve a base level. Helping lift someone up will always be much more effective than making assumptions, judgements or demands. To our unhoused neighbors, we're with you and we will continue doing what we can to provide support and help change the systems that are creating barriers. Get involved. maineneeds.org And if you'd like to support this community effort as we grow & expand our reach, please contribute to our Capacity Campaign. maineneeds.org/capacity
