Director of Commercial & Technical at ARC Building Solutions - award-winning cavity barriers and cavity closers
New! Retrofit Eaves Insulator Many new build homes have benefited from ARC's Eaves Insulator, ensuring effective eaves insulation while maintaining ventilation to the loft space (did I mention this product also makes it super easy for the housebuilder to document Part L compliance at the eaves) Today we are pleased to reveal the ARC Retrofit Eaves Insulator - allowing existing homes to benefit from the same methodology. During a typical loft insulation upgrade, the practical limitations of the material and access to the space mean that either insulation is missed over the eaves causing a cold spot inside the property, or ventilation is blocked causing condensation and mould in the loft. ARC Retrofit Eaves Insulator is very easily installed, and addresses these all too common performance gaps between design and reality by ensuring the eaves is fully insulated without compromising ventilation. This exciting new product has been developed in conjunction with the experts at Leeds Beckett University's Leeds Sustainability Institute. Drop me a message or contact your ARC representative for more information. #insulation #retrofit #landlords #landlordsuk #propertymanagement

When Is A Pizza Not A Pizza? When it is made out of steel for a rooftop HVACR platform. After many years of designing and manufacturing super-lightweight platforms, Con-form Group has been involved in a lot of unique projects. This platform on a shopping centre is one of the most unusual being in the shape of a pizza slice. Due to the angle of the roof not only is the deck a triangle but the frames are also triangulated. They are 200mm high at the top of the roof and measure more than 640mm down-roof. Creating this meant that the platform components had to be made at a lot of different lengths. It is another example of the fact that Con-form Group has never been unable to come up with a solution despite rooftop challenges. The uniqueness of this project continues with the fact that it has acoustic louvres attached to it. A new release from the Con-form Group Product Development Centre, Acoustic+ LouvreWall combines sound deadening qualities with ventilation of HVACR plant equipment. The louvres are filled with a fibrous absorptive material which has the perfect Noise Reduction Coefficient score of 1.0 #constructioninnovation #platformdesign #uniqueprojects #structuralengineering

I provide online pre recorded trainings for mechanical designers who want to improve themselves, preparing to take PAE or PCE exams.
#cleanroom hvac design. The table below just summarizes the differences between comfort air conditioning and clean room air design. As the classes of clean room goes higher ie from ISO9 to ISO1, the air changes requirement to achieve the restriction of particles count also increase. Similarly the cfm/ tonne also increases. However, the cooling load will not change much as it is dependent on the process load. This will mean that different strategy in acmv design is required to be adopted to pass only section of the return air to cooling coil as Cooling coil limitation is about 400-450cfm per tonne. Considering doing displacement ventilation? The points and steps to consider are as follows:- High ceiling space and low space sensible heat? Raised Floor for UFAD or just DV? Calculate heat load in occupied space. Determine the occupied space whether for seated or standing occupants. For DV, the steps are as follows while there are some minor differences for calculating UFAD:- Calculate supply air volume for cooling and outdoor air requirement. Supply air volume shall be larger of the two, Calculate supply temperature from space sensible heat. Calculate the exhaust air temperature. Calculate on coil condition from temperature of mixed outdoor and exhaust air. Calculate off coil condition from grains consideration of space latent heat and design room condition. Consider any reheat requirement. Calculate ahu capacity from on coil and off coil condition. Wanna learn UFAD or DV design? Start from psychrometric course and then take the underfloor/ displacement ventilation design course. For specifying AHU, take the AHU selection and specification course. Sales Director - GIACOMINI UK & IRL Leading our sales team & supporting MEP Contractors & Consulting Engineers in delivering effective, sustainable, data driven hydronic, HVAC solutions.
“Yeah we know Giacomini…” 😏 It’s something I hear, a lot! People are usually genuinely surprised when we explain that UFH is only a part of what we do. Our “core” range consists of every type of valve required for modern commercial HVAC installations, from plant room to distribution we have a solution. Our customers range from investors to end users. We support clients and designers in making smart sustainable choices at the front end and help contractors and users put the concept to work. Put simply Giacomini balance buildings better. Best balance of technology vs easy of use. Best balance of sustainability vs comfort. Best balance of service, price and availability. Red pipe and manifolds anyone?
