The GHG Women Leading in Hospitality Employee Resource Group hosted their second event, Sip + Swing at the Kalamazoo Country Club, where they enjoyed golf lessons, played a few holes, and enjoyed a lovely happy hour. A big thank you to KCC and our outstanding coaches, Carolyn Peurach, Karen VandenBerg (of the Battle Creek Country Club), and Ella Hoffman, for making this event truly exceptional! ⛳️

Happy International Women's Day! Check out the below example of how one brand/organization is finally doing things differently so they can give the women in their profession the recognition they deserve. There's still a long way to go, but it's a start!

This week, I had the privilege of being involved in an incredibly important panel discussion for National Inclusivity Week with my peers Beth Tatton Helen Woodcock MSc Stuart Mather Nadeem Shafi, led by the inspiring Wendy Ramshaw, whose organisation and vision brought us all together. We touched on a wide range of critical subjects, from the importance of creating equitable opportunitiess to the need for meaningful representation in every sphere of life. Conversations like these remind me of the values that drive us at Calisen, where we are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where Everyone is Welcome. At Calisen, we truly believe that diversity is our strength, and inclusivity is the foundation upon which we can all thrive. It’s more than just words – it’s about building a culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. This is how we grow, and create lasting impact. I’m so grateful to have shared this space with passionate individuals who are committed to making real change. Together, we’re shaping a future where inclusion isn't just a conversation for one week, but a practice we embed in everything we do. Massive shoutout to San Johal, FCIPD and Kim Ratcliffe for this opportunity. Here’s to continuing these important dialogues and doing the work every day to ensure that everyone belongs. #NationalInclusivityWeek #DiversityAndInclusion #CalisenValues #EveryoneIsWelcome #InclusionInAction #ImpactMatters
Proud moment for us today at Calisen marking #NationalInclusionWeek2024 with a panel of colleagues all talking about why #ImpactMatters to them, for our business and society as a whole. We have made great progress so far this year in our EDI journey, with so much more to do but hearing from colleagues about their own lived experience and why inclusion is important was super impactful. Thank you for stepping up Listowel Appiah Beth Tatton Nadeem Shafi Helen Woodcock MSc Stuart Mather and a big thank you to our expert facilitator Wendy Ramshaw Together we can be the change that we want to see.

👯♀️ Girl Power 👯♀️ Last week I was *super* sick but I managed to rally for two critical events: - My speaking engagement with the Young Women's Alliance, where I spoke to women about advocating for themselves. - A mastermind call hosted by the amazing Midori Verity. The attendees and thought-provoking conversations were inspiring. True power players! The common themes in these conversations were: - Finding and owning your voice - Getting away from perfection - Killing imposter syndrome - Speaking up and standing out A 2024 theme on social media is being "authentic" but what the hell does that mean? How do you get there? I'm going to explore that more in 2024. More human, less Human Resources. What do you think? #peopleoperations #humanresources #womenempowered #femaleleadership #fueltofire

Congratulations to Alli O'Connell, Beth Foster-Chao, and Cyrus R. Martin!! As part of our DEI strategy, the Autodesk Foundation redesigned our website to be more transparent, inclusive, and grantee-forward – transitioning from an invitation-only funding stream to a self-nominating process, with details about what to expect within the selection process, average funding, clear criteria, and theories of change. We created custom landing pages to build credibility for early-stage organizations, with innovator-forward content uplifting historically underrepresented leaders. Goals & Objectives: In redesigning our website, we aim to set a new standard for transparency, open-source funding, and grantee-forward content in corporate philanthropy. The redesign is part of our overall DEI strategy to increase funding to a portfolio that reflects the ecosystem's diversity and talent. Results & Impact: Since the website redesign, we have surpassed key DEI targets – 46% percent of portfolio organizations have at least one person of color in the CEO/founder group, a 230% increase over our baseline. Women lead 50%+ of organizations, representing 4% growth over the baseline.
Where do you find inspiration? 💡 Today, we found it among the announcement of the Anthem Award winners. We are honored to be part of this group and receive a silver award from The Anthem Awards for "building a transparent, inclusive website to level the playing field in philanthropy" in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion - #CorporateSocialResponsibility category. 💫 #CorporatePhilanthropy Learn more about the award and the other winners of the 2024 #AnthemAwards ⤵️

This week we joined businesses, leaders and changemakers from across Wales, at the Mastering Diversity Conference. We spent the day discussing the work that’s been done to break down barriers, and the work still to do to make sure we get to an equitable playing field as soon as we can. From the role AI will play in making our work more inclusive, to the challenges women continue to face inside and outside of the board room, we looked at our own initiatives, such as mentoring, and considered the role businesses, academics and policy makers play in changing the game. There’s work still to be done – and “we go together, or not at all”! A huge big diolch to Bernie Davies for bringing us all together. And thank you – diolch, to those who took part in our zone chats: Becca Lidstone, Israa Bazo, Lauren Goody Assoc CIPD, Cai Gwinnutt, Dr.Priyatharshini Rajaram, Sally-Anne Skinner, Laura Hughes, Jessica Shipman, Ann-Marie Smale MBE, Louise Mumford, Gemma Butland, Alex Lock, Hannah Murray, Ben Allwright, Rachael Flanagan, Louise Harris, Delyth Jones, Dr Clare Johnson, Lisa Hand Chartered FCIPD, Helen Williams and Dan P.!
