🌿 Excited to share that I have completed the Introduction to Environmental Law and Policy course from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! 🌍 This comprehensive course has deepened my understanding of crucial environmental issues and the legal frameworks that address them. From studying the law of nuisance and property rights to exploring the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Endangered Species Act (ESA), this journey has been enlightening. I’ve gained insights into risk regulation, environmental justice, and the intersection of economic models with environmental protection. Key learnings include: - Understanding how judicial opinions shape environmental law. - Exploring the balance between private property rights and environmental regulations. - Analyzing the role of risk in pollution control and toxic substances regulation. - Investigating transboundary waste shipments and environmental justice. - Examining technology-based regulations under the Clean Water Act and the emerging era of greenhouse gas regulation. The New York City Brownfield Partnership ( #NYCBP ) believes the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation's (DEC’s) proposed updated revisions to its Part 375 regulations for the New York State Brownfield Cleanup Program warrant further revision to facilitate redevelopment of sites that will otherwise remain contaminated. Accordingly, NYCBP Vice President George Duke coordinated and shared the NYCBP's comments on the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation’s Proposed Part 375 Revisions.
