Nurses matter! ❤️ Nurses are: - A huge part of healthcare. - Provide essential care. - Support. - Compassion to patients in need. Nurses are reliant, but it's important to remember that they also need support. It is equally important for nurses to prioritize their self-care. Taking time to rest, recharge, and tend to their physical and mental health allows nurses to continue their vital work effectively and sustainably. Supporting nurses through adequate resources, manageable workloads, and mental health support is critical to maintaining their well-being while helping others with theirs. By fostering an environment that values and supports nurses, we contribute to a healthier, more resilient healthcare system for everyone. Learn More: https://lnkd.in/d3_pnBAP

The difference between a burned-out nurse and a happy one isn't just about the time spent caring for patients, the burden of documentation or the lack of supporting staff. It also significantly depends on how appreciated they feel by their managers. The latest QuestionPro study, "Nursing in 2024," highlights the role of managerial support in reducing burnout among nurses. We must prioritize creating a supportive environment for our nurses. #Healthcare #Nursing #NursingLeadership
Understanding the experiences of our nursing workforce is more critical than ever. Our recent study shows that nurses who feel appreciated by their managers experience significantly lower burnout rates than those who feel unappreciated. "33% quit within the first year." Think about that: 33%. From lack of administrative support to unresolved workplace violence; from lack of recognition of the unique education and skills required to be a nurse to 'fluffy' recognition programs (YES, I'm looking at you, Nurses Week: Ice Cream Socials simply and plastique 'Nurses Week' handbags don't cut it); from indescribable physical demands (you go turn a 450 pound patient) to excuses provided for not having sufficient staff or resources to provide safe patient care, one would think healthcare conspires to make nurses quit. The Federal and State governments, coupled with the highest levels of administration within hospitals and healthcare systems need to do more, and do better by their nurses.
