This groundbreaking technology is revolutionizing the field of biotechnology by enabling precise and targeted modifications to DNA. Here’s a closer look at what it is and how it works: CRISPR-Cas9 allows scientists to make precise, targeted changes to the DNA of living organisms. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 🤷♂️? 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐑𝐍𝐀 (𝐠𝐑𝐍𝐀): A piece of RNA is designed to match the DNA sequence at the target site. 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝟗 𝐄𝐧𝐳𝐲𝐦𝐞: The Cas9 enzyme binds to the gRNA and follows it to the same location in the DNA sequence. 𝐂𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐍𝐀: Cas9 makes a cut in the DNA at the targeted location. 𝐃𝐍𝐀 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫: The cell's natural repair mechanisms kick in to repair the cut.
