New bike racks have been installed in Downtown Greenville, enhancing bike parking options to promote active mobility. These 13 racks are strategically placed at six key locations between downtown and the Greenville Town Common. We worked in collaboration with Greenville Recreation & Parks, Downtown Greenville Partnership, and the Multimodal Transportation Commission. Greenville is green, alright! Progress is a series of small steps leading to big change.
‘Houston, we have a ….solution!!’ 🚀🙌 City of Houston announced the full 7-block stretch of Main Street will be #carfree. 🚙🚫 It’s a positive step towards making it walkable 👍and bikeable (BCycle). While the move may be driven primarily by congestion nightmares (maybe the World Cup?!), it’s a good start. One of the enablers for walking is #sharedmobility. Cities with a good mix of modes like transit, bike and carsharing integrated in the ecosystem, tend to rank higher on walkability. Active transportation in urban areas is not just about providing a way to move from one place to another; it's about providing a route that feels both safe and comfortable. For people who bike, this means having access to a network of facilities that they perceive as safe—all the way through. ✅ In high-conflict areas, this challenge is especially pronounced. How do we help bicyclists navigate through urban chokepoints so “that one intersection” doesn’t prevent someone from choosing an active mode of transportation? 💥 Here's how we create comfort in conflict. #ActiveTransportation #BikeFacilities #BikeInfrastructure #TransportationPlanning

Quite interesting to watch the pople for a good reason being unhappy about these sharing bikes which are unorganized parking, resting in the pedestrian space. Blocking space for pedestrians to pass, especially the ones with children trolleys, wheel chairs and senior walking aids! But when you check out the Video do you see all these cars, and how much space they are taking up? This seems to be accepted - even their use is very limited and the space taken extreme! Lets build public parking and charging infrastructure for LEVs on former car parking spaces and of course cut the car parking space in cities dramatically and make more space for pedestrians, children play grounds, benches for anyone free to use, more greenery and space for safe cycling. Please check out as well IEA HEV Task 23 on Bicycle Parking and Charging infrastructure. www.IEAHEV.org Task 23
Is it any wonder Sydneysiders are fed up with the bike share system being out of control in our city? Bikes are routinely left in inconvenient places making them a hazard for pedestrians and others. This example at Pitt Street near King Street is just one of many similar situations. City streets should not be turned into obstacle courses. It’s a failure of the bike share operators and the regulatory system that allows this to happen. Premier Chris Minns has also clearly had enough and has made sorting out the bike share issue a priority. And he’s being supported in this by Lord Mayor Clover Moore AO. We look forward to them sorting out the issue because share bikes can be an innovative and valuable addition to our city if it’s done the right way. We want to see them succeed as they’ve done in other global cities. Austroads Webinar Recording: Safe Active Streets – an Overview of Western Australia’s Pilot Program The Department of Transport Western Australia has been working with Western Australian local governments to develop, trial and evaluate ‘safe active streets’ to encourage more people to walk, wheel and ride in their communities. The pilot program trialled and adapted common local area traffic management treatments to create 30 km/h environments with unique designs created that reflect local community needs and context. This webinar explored the origins of the program, how and why it started, shared high-level insights from the evaluation, including what worked, what didn’t and what was learnt along the way. It also shared next steps for the program and how this work will be used to inform guidelines to support the delivery of safe active street infrastructure by local government into the future. The webinar was presented by Caroline Elliott and Liza Picton. There were question and answer opportunities during the session. https://lnkd.in/gi-RqNrU

Given how important access to destinations is so important in our #mobility and #landuse planning, here is an interesting interactive tool that helps people "want to be near the #amenities that matter most to them" The map by Close has two core principles: - Different people will prioritize being near different amenities - A neighborhood is only as accessible as its most distant important amenity The list of amenities suggests how important it is to have good #landuse planning that considers these destinations so that people have the maximum opportunity to #walk, #roll, and #bike to them. What are your thoughts? Do we need more of these type of tools to amplify how much more we should be talking about the value of linking access to destinations in our #MobilityPlanning? TJKM is developing a Vision Zero Action Plan for the Village of Wellington, FL. Known for its equestrian-centered lifestyle, Wellington truly represents a multimodal community. Along with horses and automobiles, there is a significant mix of people traveling via golf carts, small motorcycles, and scooters. Cyclists, pedestrians, and transit riders round out the mix. In the past ten years, there have been 36 people killed and 295 seriously injured while traveling along Wellington’s roads. Wellington’s goal is to reach zero by 2030. Why is this important? Last summer, Wellington’s village council adopted a Vision Zero policy. In it, they emphasize that Vision Zero starts with the ethical belief that everyone has the right to move safely in their communities, and that system designers and policy makers share the responsibility to ensure safe systems for travel. They also tied Vision Zero to community resiliency and sustainability by acknowledging that a roadway system with frequent crashes causes travel delays, drains fiscal resources, and threatens the quality of life in Wellington as well as the reputation of Wellington as a desirable destination for future generations. How can you be involved? • Share your experiences: Let us know what safety concerns you face on Wellington's roads. • Interactive dashboard: Track progress and see how safety is improving in your area. • Equity focus: We're committed to addressing historical barriers to safe transportation for all residents. Wellington's Unique Approach: We go beyond just numbers. Your stories and insights are valuable to creating a plan that works for everyone. Join us in building a safer Wellington! • Visit https://lnkd.in/gwCEDpmA to learn more and get involved. • Share this message with your friends and neighbors. Together, we can make a difference! #VillageofWellington #FL #Florida #VisionZero #VZ #VisionZeroActionPlan #VZAP #Equestrian #Safety #Traffic #Transportation #Wellington #Village #TrafficSafety #RoadSafety #Policy
