Africa, the future champion of vaccine production: a dream come true. “The Greenway Foundation is honoured to have been part of the Global Forum for Vaccine Sovereignty and Innovation, in collaboration with the African Union and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. 🌍💉” - Pierre-Yves Roizot, President of GWF. On June 20 at Gavi, two major steps were announced to strengthen vaccine production in #Africa: 💪 the start of GAVI's replenishment cycle for 2026-2030 📈. The program aims to protect 500 million #children and save more than 8 million lives through vaccines. 🚀 the launch of the AVMA (African Vaccine Manufacturing Accelerator) 🌍: a $1.1 billion fund to create an African vaccine market. The fund will be used to build vaccine factories on African soil. “This will help us produce 60% of our vaccines in Africa by 2040” - Dr. Jean Kaseya, General Director of Africa CDC (Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
