At Water Impact Partners we see a strong interest and potential, especially in 3 areas of water innovation, which we also got confirmation of when Sead Bajrovic and I were part of the 2 most impactful innovation arms in the industry.
From 2025 and onwards we are initiating an even stronger focus to support the following 3 areas with our Growth Model:
- Water Treatment
- New water sources
- Digital water management
The reason is that:
- New Water Treatment innovations and the bi-products of treatment will disrupt the existing technologies which have not undergone major innovations for many years and sludge is an interesting energy source but have become a major challenge for many water utilities to handle. Despite diverse standpoints on PFAS, we see PFAS and "strategic" metal removal as a space of serious potential.
- New water sources like clean desalination, atmospheric water generation, rainwater harvesting and water re-use is going to be a topic for water stressed regions across the globe and the technologies have been more than a decade in "R&D" mode and ready for market adaptation at scale.
- Digital water mangement is up for a consolidation across digital water management for buildings and utilities as this is a highly crowded market but no-one have taken serious lead across segments and driving global scale, but a handful of strong players are now ready to take on the "consolidation play".
Over the coming months we will be able to reveal more on cases, and potential setups to drive significant growth, especially for investors who are new to the water industry and usually invest in more longterm and cash heavy asset classes.
