I had a fantastic experience attending today’s webinar on Enhancing Investment Decisions Using AI, hosted by FT Live and AlphaSense. Here are my top learnings: 1.       Generative AI’s Credibility vs. Accuracy: Generative AI is optimized for credibility, not necessarily accuracy. This means the outputs may sound convincing but are not always correct. 2.       Limitations of Large Language Models (LLMs): LLMs don’t know how to say, “I don’t know.” They will produce responses regardless of accuracy, which is a critical limitation to be aware of. 3.       Importance of Prompt Engineering: Crafting the right questions is crucial. Proper prompt engineering can significantly influence the quality of AI-generated answers. 4.       Minimizing Hallucinations: Hallucinations (nonsensical or inaccurate outputs) can be minimized with careful training. It is essential to understand what data goes into the model. 5.       Risk Control and Documentation: Due to AI’s potential for inaccuracy, robust risk control and thorough documentation will become increasingly vital, especially in investment. Expect regulatory implications. 6.       Protecting Intellectual Property: When using Generative AI, ensure your IP and data are protected – include provisions in your contracts.
