Have you started preparing yet? Whether you're an educator getting ready to welcome your class back, or a parent preparing your students backpacks and closets, we know it can be a challenge getting fully prepared ahead of time and not to mention, the expense. According to the National Education Association, more than 90 percent of educators use their own money for classroom supplies. By shopping early you may be able to save on school supplies and find awesome deals! Shopping online may give you a wider variety of options and you may even be able to find cash back offers. **Universal Free School Meals: A Smart Investment for Our Future** The estimated cost of implementing universal free school breakfast and lunch nationwide stands at around $19 billion annually. This investment would ensure every child has access to nutritious meals, directly enhancing educational outcomes and reducing food insecurity. Given the financial strain this places on school districts, collaboration with procurement partners like OMNIA Partners becomes crucial. OMNIA Partners offers cooperative purchasing solutions that help schools save money on supply chain expenses. By leveraging collective buying power, OMNIA Partners can negotiate better pricing on essential food items and services, ensuring taxpayer dollars are used efficiently. For example, states like Michigan, Minnesota, and Colorado have already seen success with expanded free meal programs, demonstrating the positive impact on student participation and well-being. With OMNIA Partners' support, schools across the nation can adopt similar programs more sustainably. Let's advocate for universal free school meals and utilize strategic partnerships to make this vision a reality. Together, we can invest in our children's future while optimizing costs for our communities. #Education #ChildNutrition #UniversalFreeMeals #OMNIAPartners #SchoolLunch #SchoolBreakfast #Procurement #PublicSchools #TaxpayerSavings

Starting this summer, families can buy more food for children with California SUN Bucks, also called Summer-EBT. SUN Bucks works just like CalFresh, but for the summer. SUN Bucks will provide $120 per child, which is equivalent to $40 per month for the three months schools are typically closed during the summer. Most eligible families do not need to take any action, as children who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals through a school meal application or an alternative income form, or who receive CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal, are automatically enrolled. Children who are not automatically enrolled for SUN Bucks can apply for free or reduced-price school meals by completing and submitting a school meal application or alternative income form by August 31, 2024. Families can obtain these applications from their school or school administrator’s office. Learn more about SUN Bucks here: https://lnkd.in/gbU7Ubma

New Blog Post!! Love when I get inspired by a book and share why the topic and the narrative matters. If you love food (I do) and care about this planet (we all do) then read this blog on Cool Food: Erasing Your Carbon Footprint One Bite at a Time. Let's have a conversation about where this topic fits in our schools -- I will say I already do believe it belongs at all grade levels. How could it happen? How does this align with school priorities and educating learners to be prepared for now and later? I can talk food anytime, and cool food is really cool!! And the book inspired me to make cookies. That's already cool! https://lnkd.in/gnN2itf5

Private schools are using upsell mechanisms to increase their revenues occasionally. The stationary list, food, and transportation are very classical ones however some of them go further, such as event tickets, printed calendars, or discount coupons. What do you think about the upsell strategies of private schools? Do you find it inevitable in a strong wild capitalist world? or do you find it unethical? I write my thoughts as a comment.
