What if a product manager became a movie director? Action! Let's backlog that scene for later. We need to pivot the plot based on viewer feedback. We'll use sprints to plan the protagonist's journey and A/B test the ending. No spoilers in our daily meetings! Cheers🥂 P.S.: Check out the picture below of the legendary director of the Indian film industry, who directed RRR for 300 days. If you try to use his methods to manage your product, don't be surprised if you miss every deadline and your company kicks you out! #FunScenario #DontTryThisAtWork #CareerSwitch #ProductManagerToDirector #FunScenario #product #TFI #Management

"The more modular a project is, the more efficient you can be delivering it, and the less risk you have." That quote from Prof. Bent Flyvbjerg is one of many nuggets from our second episode focusing on key takeaways from Bent's book How Big Things Get Done. The Velociteach squad starts by exploring the idea of “Pixar Planning” with Bent, a method inspired by Pixar Studios’ approach to producing award-winning movies. With Pixar Planning, we see the value of thinking slow and acting fast, leveraging iterative processes to refine projects efficiently and inexpensively. Next, we tackle the concept of modularity, highlighting its crucial role in project scalability and risk mitigation. Bent emphasizes the significance of standardized, modular approaches in driving efficiency and reducing the frequency and severity of project failures. So, what is the "Lego" in your project?! https://lnkd.in/encrEKus

Sometimes a tough pill to swallow for early stage companies/founders (who are often eager to raise money), but keeping your day job gives you flexibility and runway when dealing with pre-revenue product development. Think of it as pre-production demand smoothing. It's also a great way to stay true to your design goals without sacrificing or skipping steps to meet investor demands. Check out the clip below - full episode drops on YouTube on Friday, 4/5. Follow, like, comment, subscribe! #podcast #business #startup #investor

Almost no companies I’ve worked with or heard of treat Production (with the capital P) like a real thing, and I’ll tell you why that’s a problem. What is a Producer, after all? A Producer, in a nutshell, is a designer for efficiency. A Producer who spends twice the budget and takes 3 times longer than planned to deliver a product is not a very good one. You can definitely make a game (or any other project) without a Producer. Perfectly possible. No problems. Especially if you’re okay with your team having no idea what they’re doing, how to connect the dots for different departments, and how to measure efficiency and success. Oh, and to crunch a lot and burn out a lot, of course. (...) Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dJNmvN5m

Ever noticed how seamless the sales process seems in Hollywood movies? Characters go from talking and pushing ideas to delivering persuasive speeches and winning gamess effortlessly. It often looks so smooth on screen! But does it really happen like that in real life?? 🧐 As a Business Development professional at Slate Studios, I've learned that the art of sales is far from a quick, cinematic montage. In reality, it takes months to convert a client. It involves building genuine connections, understanding customer needs, and developing trust over time. It's not just about the perfect pitch or a single impressive presentation. It's a continuous journey of learning, adapting, and providing value. Movies might make it look easy or effortless, but a true hustler knows that behind every successful deal, there's a lot of hard work, strategy, and perseverance. The satisfaction of closing a deal after months of effort is incomparable and truly rewarding. My two cents for the hustlers. #videoproductionhouse #sales #businessdevelopment #production
