Questions and answers. I was chatting with a very experienced British Chair (he is the chair of a billion pound company) yesterday and I asked him what the key difference is between Execs and Non-Execs. Non-Execs are expected to have questions. ("ledamöterna" - in Swedish). Execs are expected to have answers. For me the ability to ask great questions is a really super skill when you work as a non-exec so see this as your KPI linked with the decisions you take once you get the answers to your questions. The other interesting reflection is the reminder of the difference between the Anglo-Saxon board practice and the Nordic one. The British boards have a mix of Executive formal directors and Non-Executives. The Nordic boards are more Non-Exec focussed with the CEO. #boardofdirectors #nonexecutivedirectors #styrelsearbete Magnus Burvall Scalex Growth Partners Erik Engstrom Anders Hugosson

A heartfelt thank you to the organization team of the conference „Power relations in organizations” that took place in Basel last week. It was versatile and interesting by content, included a wonderful evening event and the atmosphere was so welcoming and warm. (Olaf Geramanis and team) These were the highlights of the program and take aways for me: · Power in organizations is a given. No possibility to deny that fact even if power doesn’t have the best image. When I am acting within an organization, particularly when being in a leadership role I need to find a constructive way to deal with that fact. (Prof. Dr. Roland Reichenbach) · As a member of an organization I need political skills: Being aware of power and political constellations and acting within this situation with integrity (Arjan Kozica) · When taking leadership within an organization, I need to be aware that whatever I do will have unintended consequences. That should not keep me from doing something. It rather implies that when taking actions, I need to pay attention what happens afterwards and react swiftly to reactions that I could not anticipate. I help organisations break down knowledge silos and drive sustainable insight-led growth ⚡ Founder | Author | Speaker | Knowledge Management Expert
Imagine if the Rebel Alliance had lost that one key insight needed to destroy the Death Star. Maybe it was there, just buried in a forgotten droid… without any idea of how to surface it. The galaxy would be in a very different state. Our insights have the ability to change the fate of entire organisations. But they need to be accessible… not lost in the vastness of space (or shared drives). By mastering knowledge management, we can become a force for change in our organisations (pun intended). Be less droid. Be more Jedi Council.
