This week Consolis dedicated time and resources for creating awareness on environmental sustainability, both internally and externally. We have been showing how market drivers and trends effect the entire construction industry and good examples on how we can reduce the environmental impact from our projects, partners and collaborations. Yesterday I showed the Consolis Technology Roadmap that we published early this year, using a good combination of top-down and bottom-up approach for brainstorming ideas in a structured way by using the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), University of Cambridge method. By using this methodology we have a strategic plan with a market pull perspective that gives a good balance for the technology push needed to reach our environmental sustainability targets and maintaining our leadership position. For you who are interested in the results of good collaboration between industry and academia, I can strongly recommend listening on Ida Karlsson defending her PhD thesis at Chalmers University of Technology on Monday the 3rd June at 10.00 CET: https://lnkd.in/dQ3dt_tW
Consolis Technical Director, Thomas Blanksvärd, hosted one of the seminars at Consolis Environmental Sustainability Week 2024 where he talked about the Consolis Roadmap towards net-zero precast concrete and the progress we have made so far. 🏗️ In the European Union, demolition, including renovation, generates approximately 124 metric tonnes (Mt) of waste per year, equivalent to the weight of 12,277 Eiffel Towers. This highlights the urgent need for innovative, sustainable solutions, and SURA IMPACT, through its Circular Value Institute, is among those leading the effort to support this transition. Key initiatives by SURA IMPACT include: ➡️Circular Value Indices, focusing on buildings designed for longevity and recyclability. ➡️MASCO-funded projects, advocating for a service-based model for materials to promote reuse rather than disposal. These strategies support not only environmental objectives but also provide economic advantages, pushing the construction industry toward sustainability. Learn more about SURA IMPACT's methods in their latest whitepaper: https://lnkd.in/grbxf5yC . SURA IMPACT will be speaking about their solution at the World Circular Economy Forum WCEF in a session organized by the Circular Building Coalition and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation on April 17th. This is an opportunity to engage with leaders in sustainable construction. Registration is free: In-person registration: https://lnkd.in/dk4w6WZm Online access: https://lnkd.in/dwcUWfUq SURA Impact was selected as one of the top 10 blueprint projects by the Circular Buildings Coalition (CBC) to transition the construction sector to a more circular state. CBC unites stakeholders in the built environment to adopt sustainable practices. Sofie Rapsaet #circularbuildingscoalition #buildcircular #zerowasteconstruction

🌍 Transforming Construction: Reflecting on Waste No More FUSTIC is happy to share a landmark event that took place at EPFL on March 27 - "Waste No More: Discover the Value of Disused Construction Products," which introduction was made by our EPFL ENAC Dean, Professor Katrin Beyer and then hosted by Professor Corentin Fivet, whose presentation made a significant leap towards the future of sustainable construction. Frédéric Dreyer(-Gonzales) (PhD, MBA), FUSTIC Founder, moderated the round table with Karen Scrivener, Renaud Vincendon, Luana Ferrari and Sarah Planchamp. In addition, our member rebuiLT, a key player in this pioneering exploration of sustainable practices in the construction industry, was represented by Luana Ferrari and Sarah Planchamp. They led an enriching round table discussion, offering insights into the value of reusing disused construction materials. Their expertise and vision shed light on the path toward a more sustainable future but also demonstrated the practical implications of their role as a FUSTIC member in driving industry change. Reflecting on the event at EPFL, it's clear that "Waste No More" served as more than a call to action. Indeed, Corentin Fivet stressed the fact that we cannot wait another ten years to be developing solutions and that we need to use the solutions that exist now to act. As we look back, let's continue to inspire and be inspired, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in construction for a more sustainable world. Be the Change! 🚧 Advancing Circular Economy in Concrete Production! SETAC Europe 26th LCA Symposium hosted by Chalmers University of Technology, along with my colleague Anne Rønning, we presented our poster on a sustainable approach in concrete production: using recycled aggregates from a dry-washing process for concrete trucks to minimize waste and reduce carbon emissions. Our study, conducted with a talented team, analyzed the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of this technology. Significant potential to lower global warming impact in concrete production This innovative process not only reduces waste, water, and natural aggregates but also allows CO2 binding through carbonation in recycled aggregates, contributing to more sustainable construction practices. By integrating circular economy principles, we’re reshaping how concrete production can meet environmental goals! #NORSUS #Sintef #UiA #MAPEI #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #ConcreteProduction #LCA #SETAC #Recycling #Innovation #EnvironmentalImpact
