On Monday 20 May, I will be giving a presentation to the TWI Teesside Branch on the ‘Inspection and testing of steelwork for building and bridge fabrication in the UK’. You can register at the following link and please note this event is free to everyone. https://lnkd.in/etcEBvZw   Although EN 1090-2 is at the core of inspection and testing of structural steelwork, this standard is heavily modified by UK specifications for building and bridge works. This fact is often overlooked by those responsible for the administration, procurement and instructing of inspection and non-destructive testing, resulting in non-compliant works.   I will first be reviewing the inspection and testing requirements of EN 1090-2 and will then look at how the National Structural Steelwork Specification for buildings, and the Specification for Highways Works for bridges, modify these requirements. The subject matter of the presentation was covered by two articles published in the TWI journal, Welding and Joining Matters. Part 1, published in Issue 5, covered testing to EN 1090-2.
