$10,000 KFC Foundation Nonprofit Health and Well-Being grant, Due: 05/31/2024 https://lnkd.in/gkQi-buT Health and Well-Being Supported in U.S. Communities KFC Foundation: Kentucky Fried Wishes Application deadline: Applications are accepted quarterly. The upcoming application window, focused on health and well-being, is open from May 1 to 31, 2024. Grant amount: Up to $10,000 Description: Through the Kentucky Fried Wishes program, the KFC Foundation will award up to $1 million total to 100 nonprofit organizations in the United States. Twenty-five grants will be awarded per quarterly cycle. The remaining quarterly cycles for 2024 focus on the following areas: improving health and well-being (open for application in May 2024), including efforts such as mobile health clinic creation, playground improvements, domestic violence shelter upgrades, and accommodations for individuals with disabilities; expanding access to food and shelter (open for application in July 2024), including efforts such as food pantry remodels, community garden creation, building repairs and renovations, and beautification of community space; and caring for the environment and animals (open for application in September 2024), including efforts such as permanent wildlife conservation exhibits, a new vehicle for a mobile vet clinic, and park improvements. (The application window focused on empowering through education and training was open in February 2024.) Eligible nonprofit organizations must operate on the local level (or be an affiliate or chapter of a larger organization that operates locally) and directly benefit their surrounding community. Application Window: May 1-31 Final determinations made within 60 days of submission deadline. Examples: · Mobile health clinic creation · Playground improvements · Domestic violence shelter upgrades · Accommodations for individuals with disabilities

I like this list. I would add that something else that St. Louis does really well is Rally. Some examples of this: Neighbors – Although we have our flaws, STL sure showed out to support more than 1,200 Afghan refugees that have come to the area since 2021. STL's growth has been bolstered by refugees and it is great to see STL churches and NGO’s like Oasis International Ministries and the International Institute of St. Louis Rally around this effort. Philanthropy – The city can sure Rally around a good cause. This is shown by STL being traditionally ranked highly as an area strong in charitable giving. Fidelity Investments’s “2023 Geography of Giving” ranked STL #1 in “Local Charity Support”. This is reflected annually on Give STL Day, where the community rallies around local charities. Squirrels – We can sure Rally around a squirrel. If you know, you know. Symbols of Us – Whether it is the Arch, a River, our Flag, a Toasted Ravioli, March 14th or a Band Aid on your cheek, STL sure loves to Rally around symbols of us. #STL is not a perfect place and even we (St Louisans) are quick to point that out. Being Midwesterners, we don’t celebrate what we do well enough. Nice to see a story Rally around The Lou! https://lnkd.in/gEbag92z

Big up and thanks a million to Wates Group and Wates Family Enterprise Trust 🙌 We just want to give a massive thanks to Wates for backing Electric Daisy and our grand vision for Derby. Wrapping up an epic 2023 for Down To Earth, where the amazing Derby community poured in help, donations, blood, sweat, and even a few tears of joy, to see Electric Daisy come to life. With this kind of support it wont too be long until we fulfill this initial concept Eden Project did for us!! Over the summer, more than 6,000 of you awesome folk came, enjoyed the space, worked in the award-winning gardens, feasted on fresh pizza, and soaked in inspiring talks from legends like Sir Tim Smit of Eden Project George Lamb of Wildfarmed , and Sinead Fenton of Aweside Farm. You guys drank in the atmosphere, and a few bevvies, danced, chilled, learned – but most importantly, you brought Electric Daisy to life and filled it with hope for a new way to create spaces in Derby. Wates has clocked onto how vital Electric Daisy is in regenerating this incredible city and not only did they help us get it off the ground, they've thrown their support behind us for the next two years!! This means the DTE team can take a breather, get our heads together, and plan a banging launch with a fully stacked program of events starting from Easter when we swing open our doors to the public. 🌱👩🌾 Young Cooks Dig Into Community Garden Project! 🍅🥕 Exciting things are happening at The Kind Kitchen Group! Our Young Cooks have rolled up their sleeves and gotten their hands dirty (quite literally!) as they begin building planter beds for our community garden project. This initiative is about more than just growing fresh produce - it's about cultivating a sense of ownership, responsibility, and pride in our young people. By involving them in every step of the process, from building the beds to planting the seeds to harvesting the vegetables, we're helping them develop valuable life skills and a deeper connection to their food and community. As they assembled the beds, our Young Cooks demonstrated incredible teamwork, problem-solving, and perseverance. It was inspiring to see them encourage and support one another, share ideas, and work collaboratively towards a common goal. This community garden project is a perfect example of the hands-on, experiential learning we believe in at The Kind Kitchen Group. By engaging our students in real-world projects with tangible outcomes, we're helping them build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. We've seen plenty of discussion about this article. Though National Parks Authorities are not charities themselves, all boards – regardless of legal setup – benefit from a diversity of skills, knowledge and experience, and inclusive practice. In addition, National Park Authorities work closely with many charities. A lack of #diversity on a #NationalPark board may have knock-on impacts on charities in partnership. Covering 10% of our country, we're hopeful that NPAs will make moves towards stronger #governance. https://lnkd.in/eMNEjnYv
