Checking in on Puerto Rico's all-women Installation Basics Training cohort, as they postponed week #3 of training due to hurricane safety precautions. Here are two reasons why solar training is so important in Puerto Rico: 1. Resilience and Reliability Decentralized Power Generation: Solar energy systems can be installed on individual homes or community buildings, reducing dependency on a centralized power grid. This decentralization makes communities less vulnerable to widespread outages caused by hurricanes. Microgrids and Energy Storage: When paired with battery storage, solar energy systems can provide continuous power even when the grid goes down, ensuring essential services remain operational. 2. Speedy Recovery Rapid Deployment: Solar panels and related equipment can be quickly deployed and installed, enabling faster recovery and power restoration after a hurricane. Minimal Infrastructure: Solar energy systems require less infrastructure than traditional power plants, which can be severely damaged during hurricanes. #sustainabledevelopment #sustainability #resiliency #womeninconstruction #cleanenergy #PuertoRicoselevanta
