Caregivers throughout Griffin Health helped raise heart health awareness - especially for women - by showing their support for Go Red for Women Day last week. Startling facts that show the need for an increased focus on women's heart health: * Nearly 45% of women ages 20+ are living with some form of cardiovascular disease. * Less than half of women entering pregnancy in the U.S. have optimal cardiovascular health. * Women experience unique life stages, such as pregnancy and menopause, that can put them at an increased risk for CVD. Talk to your healthcare provider about how to better prevent or manage cardiovascular disease.

During #NationalDentalCareMonth, it is crucial to highlight the significant mouth-body connection, especially given the concerning statistic that only 39% of adults ages 19-64 have visited a dentist in the last twelve months. This connection underscores the idea that oral health is critical to overall health and well-being. Neglecting dental care can lead to periodontal disease, which is linked to a host of systemic conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, respiratory illnesses, and even complications during pregnancy. National Dental Care Month is an ideal platform to educate the public about the necessity of regular dental check-ups for maintaining healthy teeth and gums and safeguarding their general health, emphasizing that comprehensive health care includes dental care. In Tennessee, hypertensive disorders were the leading causes of pregnancy-related deaths between 2017 and 2020, with cardiovascular disease being the leading cause of maternal mortality. To address this, the Tennessee Initiative for Perinatal Care (TIPQC) implemented AIM’s Severe Hypertension in Pregnancy patient safety bundle at 15 of 59 birthing facilities. Between 2020 and 2021, the percentage of patients with persistent severe hypertension who were treated within 60 minutes of episode onset at the pilot facilities increased from 43% to 67%. The TIPQC continues to work with participating facilities on patient safety bundle implementation to continue their great working in making birth safer in Tennessee. To learn more about how implementation of this bundle can support improved maternal health outcomes, read the full impact statement now: https://bit.ly/4fKkBDI #AIMState #MaternalHealth #MaternalHealthMatters #MaternalHealthEquity #HealthcareQuality #AIMForChange #AIMForSaferBirth #ACOG2024
