June is Pride month and Griffith Food’s Supporting Pride With Inclusion Celebration and Education (SPICE) community is a global belonging community committed to cultivating a culture of inclusion and celebration of the 2SLGBTQ+ community through education and outreach. Our Canadian employees and SPICE group commemorated Pride month with a flag raising ceremony and remarks from Doug Pritchard, Vice President and General Manager of Griffith Foods Canada. At Griffith Foods, Pride month is about acceptance, equality, celebrating the work of 2SLGBTQ+ people, education in 2SLGBTQ+ history, and raising awareness of issues affecting the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Pride is all about being proud of who you are no matter who you love. This month and every month, we take #PRIDE in knowing that we’re Creating Better Together™ through a diverse and inclusive culture.

Instead of just whacking a rainbow logo on our socials for Pride Month, we’re working with queer-led LGBTIQA+ inclusion training organisation Queer Town to release a free guide on LGBTIQA+ inclusive marketing, advertising, and communications. And we need your help. We’re collecting feedback on how brands can better support LGBTIQA+ communities, and how you feel about current representations. This survey takes less than two minutes to complete, is completely anonymous, and will help support agencies, brands, and marketers create work that more accurately reflects the diversity in identities and experiences found in LGBTIQA+ communities. Because when you know better, you do better. Find the survey below. https://lnkd.in/gZdKukxn

This is such an important topic to address! Gender expectations can significantly impact our professional lives and personal identities. It’s crucial that we challenge these norms and create environments where everyone feels empowered to express themselves authentically, regardless of gender. By encouraging open discussions about these expectations, we can foster greater understanding and inclusivity in the workplace. It’s about recognizing the unique contributions of each individual and breaking down the stereotypes that hold us back. I appreciate LinkedIn Learning for bringing this conversation to the forefront. Let’s continue to support each other in advocating for equality and understanding in all aspects of our lives! #GenderEquality #Inclusion #Diversity #ProfessionalDevelopment

I deeply respect and appreciate the Alberta Human Rights Commission (AHRC) for sharing their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. It's essential to foster a society that embraces, accepts, and values all individuals, creating welcoming spaces where everyone feels safe. However, the delays in addressing 2SLGBTQQIA+ community claims and complaints about rights infringement are dismal. In today's world, it's concerning that the atmosphere for feeling safe as a Two-Spirit or LGBTQQIA+ person remains precarious. I urge the AHRC to strive for true equality for Indigenous Peoples and the 2 Spirit, IndigiQueer, Indigenous LGBTQQIA+ community. Human rights are integral to upholding the dignity of everyone in our communities. Let's work together to create a province where everyone, regardless of their identity, can live free from discrimination and prejudice. #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #HumanRights #2SLGBTQQIA #IndigenousRights #Equality #CommunitySafety #AHRC #IndigiQueer #TwoSpirit #SocialJustice
Respecting diversity, equity, and inclusion contributes to a society that embraces, accepts, and values all people, fostering welcoming spaces where people feel safe. The 2SLGBTQ+ community in Alberta still faces discrimination in various aspects of life, from employment to accessing services. Human rights are integral to upholding the dignity of everyone in our communities. Work to create a province where everyone, regardless of their identity, can live free from discrimination and prejudice. https://lnkd.in/gdwEMrMp

Top tips for championing inclusivity during Pride month...and beyond! 🌈 Be an ally, learn about LGBTQIA+ issues to enhance your understanding and support of the community. 🌈 Examine and challenge your own biases to cultivate a more inclusive mindset. 🌈 Confront discriminatory language or behaviours, promoting respect and acceptance. 🌈 Utilise inclusive language and pronouns to foster a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. 🌈 Listen to LGBTQIA+ experiences and concerns with empathy and without judgement. 🌈 Advocate for policies and practices that promote equality and protect against discrimination. LGBTQIA+ inclusion should take place 365 days of the year. This is why Lifetime Group has its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy in place to make sure we’re always considering the rights and needs of the LGBTQIA+ community when decisions are being made, and to avoid any kind of ‘performative allyship’.

February is LGBT history month! 🏳🌈 While inclusivity at work is important all-year round, LBGT history month provides a great opportunity to assess how inclusive your workplace is, and make improvements. It might come as a surprise that many workplaces still aren’t inclusive spaces. 🟦 More than a third of LGBT staff have hidden that they are LGBT at work for fear of discrimination. 🟪 One in eight trans people have been physically attacked by customers or colleagues in the last year because of being trans. ⬜ 31% of non-binary people and 18% of trans people don’t feel able to wear work attire representing their gender expression. That’s why it’s so important for employers to actively create #InclusiveSpaces at work. If you’re not sure where to start, here’s three tips from our trainers on making your workplace more inclusive: 🔵 Get feedback from your team And act on it! 🟣 Change the culture from the top down Leaders need to be seen setting the example on inclusivity and demonstrating that it’s a priority. ⚪ Invest in equality, diversity and inclusion training It’s not enough to assume people know what to do. Training can help team members understand what to do and how to tackle any (conscious or subconscious) biases they may have. If you take the training route, we can help! Head to our EDI course page to see the different equality, diversity and inclusion courses we can run for you: https://lnkd.in/eik8DNJ3 #InclusivityAtWork #WorkplaceSkills #EDI
