A Long Journey: Rohingya Longing for Their Homeland. The exhibition presents testimonials of Rohingya victims of genocide in the form of art and creative expression, produced by the Rohingya community themselves. These exhibits are documented truths regarding the systematic oppression and atrocities that led to their forced migration to the Kutupalong camps in Bangladesh. These arts and crafts were produced through participatory processes engaging the victims of the genocide and the community artists and artisans. Over a period of approximately one and a half years, more than 300 community artists, artisans, and storytellers were engaged in the process, mobilized by a group of forty Rohingya youths. Documenting and spreading these stories (truths) is crucial to informing the global justice system and assisting the justice-seeking process. The aim is to exhibit these incredibly valuable artworks to tell the genocide victims’ stories beyond borders and build awareness of human rights among global citizens, hoping for dignified repatriation and the nonrecurrence of such crimes against humanity. https://lnkd.in/dy5nXrX8
