https://lnkd.in/eb4cKpgc Not too long ago we decided the house we were living In at the time was now too small, feeling the time was now right to go House Hunting. We had no plan as to where our next destination was as we literally had no Idea as to where we would buy a house, let alone find one that suit us especially when you have one young daughter to try keep happy. A nightmare at times with one wanting what she can't have so the Idea of putting her In her own room was deal clincher made moving a good Idea. That all changed at the end of a day that felt that we had driven everywhere looking at houses both big and small and even ones somewhere Inbetween for one reason or another were all wrong. By family vote we agreed we had seen enough houses for the day and head back home, deciding on the way back to pick up something for dinner at a supermarket we had passed earlier, on the way today. A leaflet caught Kate ( my wife's ) eye that was being displayed on the notice board just Inside the door. Turned out the poster related to a house for sale In the area, Jack come here you too Jessica come take a look. Excited at what we had found and as we were In the area, and as It happens not too far away It only took them a few seconds to decide that they should go take a look. Try the number on the bottom Kate. maybe If we are lucky catch someone still there who could show us around. On the journey we managed to get the auctioneer, you were lucky to get me still here, was just about ready to lock this place up when you rang, look here If you can get here In the next five minutes I'll show you around the house, Kate answered him saying we'll be there Sir, thank you. The auctioneer was standing there In the driveway when we pulled up outside the house, after a quick handshake, an even quicker Introduction followed by an explanation as to how we came about the Information on the house being up for sale, we set about looking around. Started down In the basement, then passed through every room checking everything Inside out and from top to bottom trying not to miss anything. Everything was to our liking except for one thing, It was that none of us could shake the gut feeling they had which was at It's strongest when they were In the basement no one admitted so It wouldnt seem that It would or could be used as a reason to not buy the house, not move In. We quickly made our excuses and left A story In the local paper two days later referred to 3 bodies found In the basement of 330 Crestwill Drive. The bodies found were later Identified as to being the last 3 people who tried to sell that house. The man who showed us around was one of the 3 dead people.

🚧 **Attention Jacksonville Community!** 🚧 Hey everyone! 👋 Have you noticed the increasing amount of debris on our roads lately? From tire remnants to construction barricades, it's not just an eyesore – it's a safety hazard for all of us driving through Jacksonville, especially on highways and bridges. We believe it's time for action! Here's what needs to happen: 1. **Let's Get Organized:** We're calling on the city to form rapid response teams. These heroes could swoop in and clear the debris, keeping our roads safe and smooth. 2. **Your Voice Matters:** We need an easy way for everyone to report road debris. Imagine a simple app or website where you can quickly flag a problem. Let's make it happen! 3. **Spread the Word:** Knowledge is power! Through social media, flyers, or community meetings, educating our friends and neighbors about how to report road debris is key. 4. **Working Together:** Construction companies need to step up and clean up. It's all about accountability and keeping our streets clear. 5. **Regular Check-Ups:** How about more frequent road inspections? Let's catch those hazards before they catch us by surprise. **Who's Responsible?** - **Department of Transportation (DOT):** They're the big players for state roads and highways. - **City Public Works Department:** They handle our city streets and bridges. - **Law Enforcement:** Our local police can help by reporting and responding to debris. - **Us, the Community:** Yes, we can volunteer, spread awareness, and help keep our roads clean. Let's come together as a community to tackle this issue head-on. 🤝 Share your thoughts, tag your friends, and let's start a conversation that leads to real change on our roads. Settlers - where are you talking about the work of settlers toward advancing re(al)conciliation? What does that work look like? What was a challenge you had to overcome? What did you choose to learn? How did this learning challenge your ideas about our shared history? Where are you creating change in your family, community, places of worship and work? What do you need to do more of? Who are you working with? What fears did you overcome? How did you grow through that experience? Who will you tell? Reconciliation is relational. It is not just about what a indigenous peoples have experience and survived, it’s also about what you will do to heal your relationships with land, with one another and yes, with Indigenous peoples and nations. Settlers - what’s the reconciliation story you will tell in the years ahead?
