Career Strategist l Leadership Coach l Sessional Academic l HDR Program Manager l Student Journey Map Expert | Coffee Nut
I believe it can play out in all of these ways: 🌹your passion can lead you to a great role; 🌻a great role can develop into a passion; 🌸 a passion can be something you follow in parallel to your job. I happen to think the first is the least likely, and the second is the most sustainable, all three are ‘dream-worthy’. What are your thoughts on this?

A dream job doesn't have to do anything with your passion. The requirements can be much simpler. A dream job has: Work you’re good at 👍 Work that helps others 👍 Engaging work that lets you enter a state of flow 👍 Supportive colleagues 👍 Lack of major negatives like unfair pay 👍 Work that fits your personal life 👍 I read this checklist in an article published by the website 80,000 hours and I agree with their perspective. My current job ✅✅✅ all these boxes. I don't need anything more.

Great Advice from Kinga Stryszowska-Hill, Ph.D. that I wanted to share with all of the recent SDSU Graduates! Your job does not have to be related to your personal passion. My Highlights - ✈ - Find a career that you can grow with personally and professionally and can maneuver into other roles, if you decided to change industries. 👯♂️ - Your co-workers make all the difference, choose wisely! I am fortunate enough to work with Kinga - although we just met! lol (gotta love remote environments) 🤜 🤛 - Help People - Everyday you have the chance to be the highlight of someone's day, so if you can find a career where you get to help people, take it. Take a look, at the rest list and let me know what you think. What other questions do you have about entering the workforce? What careers are you going into? Maybe some of the recruiters on my page can help. 🧐 #SDSUclassof2024 #sandiegorecruiters #sandiego

Recruitment Manager | Corporate and Executive | Connecting ambitious professionals to life-changing career opportunities 🚀
What would you prefer? 1. Fulfilling career with low compensation 2. Lucrative salary in a high-stress role 3. Moderate pay for a four-day workweek 4. Travel-centric job with minimal pay but free accommodations and global flights Navigating the advantages and drawbacks of a job can be incredibly tough. I often reflect on how fortunate with are in Australia to have the opportunity to choose our career path. When I meet candidates, our conversation often reveals career paths they hadn't previously considered. Recently, I had coffee with a candidate who had spent 14 years in the same corporate job, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to his employer. Despite his long tenure, he discovered he was earning only slightly more than a new hire. He felt disheartened and undervalued, questioning the true worth of his 14 years of experience and product knowledge. Yet, during our interview, I couldn't help but admire the courage he displayed by arriving with a positive spirit despite his circumstances. Life is full of choices and if you are ready to change your circumstances, please reach out to me on 0487 133 606. I’d love to chat. Looking at the above list, what number are you?

Happy Halloween Week! Picture this: You see your dream job advertised and feel a rush of excitement to apply — until you spot that spooky word: “contract.” It’s the perfect role for you, but it sends shivers down your spine! 🎃👻 Let’s face those fears head-on and answer the haunting question: “Are contract jobs worth it?” Here’s why contract or temp roles can be a fantastic opportunity: 1. Flexibility & Variety Contract roles allow you to work on diverse projects, gain exposure to new industries, and take control of your work-life balance. If you enjoy variety, this could be your perfect fit! Many unique opportunities first become available as temp roles or contractor positions. Large enterprises tend to be risk-averse, so it’s often a better gamble to start a new project with a temporary workforce. Plus, successfully rolling out new functionalities can be a fantastic success story to showcase on your CV! 2. Higher Earning Potential As mentioned, new projects require top talent, and contractors can command higher rates compared to full-time salaries. This can significantly boost your earnings! 3. Build Your Network Contracting gives you the chance to work with multiple companies and professionals, helping you expand your network, gain new skills, and make valuable connections for future opportunities. 4. Path to Full-Time Roles While we can never guarantee this, some contract positions can lead to permanent job offers if that’s your goal. Contracting allows you to prove your skills and explore whether a company is the right long-term fit for you. However, keep in mind that the nature of a contract is for a fixed-term assignment, so ensure you are comfortable with that outcome before committing. Are contract jobs for you? If you value independence, flexibility, and the ability to shape your career path, the answer could very well be YES! 🚀 #ContractingLife #CareerOpportunities #RecruitmentTips #Contracting
