**Our new podcast, 'AEC Tech Talks' is live!** Me and Gaurav Agrawal, C.Eng(IEI) were thrilled to have Saurabh Bulchandani, Senior Engineer, Ramboll India, as our first guest in the ‘AEC Tech Talks’ on ‘Precast Structures’. You can listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/gYiV6mNA . It was quite an interesting episode, and we learned a lot about the various design aspects, challenges, planning, timeline, and cost considerations that go into a precast construction project. Precast construction involves prefabricating structural elements like beams, columns, walls, and slabs in a factory-controlled environment and then transporting them on site and erecting them in place. Some key highlights of this episode were: 1) Some major challenges in precast design arise from non-monolithic structures leading to pinned connections, size constraints of members due to plant, transportation, and crane capacities, ductility requirements in seismic areas, and the need to check the robustness of the structure. 2) Live project examples and some challenges faced while completing them 3) General discussion on design codes, types of analysis, and software used in precast design We hope that you will find this episode as interesting and informative as we did. Let us know what you think! If you would like to be a guest on our podcast, we would love to hear from you! Follow our page (https://lnkd.in/gUipMJYC) to stay updated! We will be back with another episode soon! #structuralengineering #AECTechTalks #podcast #newlaunch #precast #civilengineering #construction #constructionmanagement
