One thing in the 2023 Michigan clean energy bills that was omitted is a clear definition of community solar. This makes it clear that Michigan has a LONG way to go. I personally think it’s time to move past celebrating the legislative wins from last year and get to work and push for more equitable clean bills through. If Michigan is to be “leading the Midwest”, then we should not let Illinois (and Minnesota) walk laps around us in energy equity. https://lnkd.in/gmbcMbnm

The transition from combustion to Heat pump have a deep impact not only at the carbon emissions. The system has the flexibility to produce comfort cooling, even at the same time as it produce heat. The electricity use in the heat pump can be provided by solar cells or a wind turbine. There is a lot of winners in this game🏆. It deliver 4 to 6 times more than the input, year after years. Energy can’t be cleaner than this.
Today's the day! 💥 The first utility thermal network is coming online in Framingham, MA! 😍 Let me just make it clear: we all owe a huge debt to Zeyneb Magavi, Audrey Schulman, and all of HEET (Home Energy Efficiency Team). Their courage, honesty, and *especially* their willingness to work with unconventional partners to expand the dialogue around decarbonization were critical to this project and the whole TENs movement, which is now spreading like a cold through daycare in more than a dozen states. Whether you call it #netgeo or #TENs or #thermalhighway, it's here! 🤗 Onward to #Lowell, #Boston, #NewYork state, and beyond! Ania Camargo Cortes Jess S. I’m not sure how else to put it: I’m getting fascinated with the energy sector. Not only am I diving more and more into the various different industries that make up the sector, but also the policy choices that are shaping these demands. I’ve mentioned before how impressive what Base Power Company is doing to not only making back up energy generation viable for citizens, but also our energy grid. Now I’ve got to say I’m astonished to see what Enchanted Rock is doing for the commercial sector. These amazing back up generators have become so reliable and affordable that companies like H-E-B have partnered with the company on its own facilities. If you are not aware of what these companies are doing to make sure reliable energy isn’t just a wish, but a reality for our communities, I’d encourage to do so. Now we need to make sure that the applicable laws are in place to allow for further innovation, while also keeping our citizens safe. I’m looking forward to this conversation…

Check out my latest story for Solar Builder Magazine, looking at how solar developers can overcome community pushback on large-scale projects.
It's not Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul, but sometimes large-scale solar projects can seem like a boxing match between developers and certain communities. Let Solar Builder managing editor Brad Kramer be your cutman, imparting key insights learned from experts Gina Brown at Silicon Ranch Corporation and Caitlin Connelly at Wood Mackenzie, who lend their wisdom on how to manage those challenges and overcome opposition, to build support for solar projects in communities throughout the United States and to bring solar projects online. “Be human,” Brown says. “That sounds really generic and easy, but it’s important to have conversations and meet people where they are." To follow up on our previous posts about the history of district energy in Akron, in 1995, Akron Thermal took over the city-owned Recycle Energy System. The company switched from burning trash to coal, wood products, and natural gas at the former B.F. Goodrich steam plant. Akron Energy Systems began operating the district energy system in 2010. In 2020, the City of Akron's new Community Energy System was put into service. To learn more about that journey, view the video below. #akronhistory #districtenergy #communityenergy https://loom.ly/sLBO1bY
